Time for FFXI "Classic"?

I'd love a 75 cap server if it truly goes back to the 2004 era. Fullscreen, alt tabbing would crash the game, no windower (and all the same stupid internet raging arguments about how much of an exploit it was, blah blah). No modern resolution settings. 800 x 600 and the like, please. Playonline required with massive slowdown when patching and updating. Bring back all the shitty frustrations as well as the rose-tinted nostalgia moments.

Every annoyance.
Every stupid design decision.

Bring it all back and see how many subs it holds.

editing in: as someone who subscribes to current day ffxi if i didn't have ulterior motives to be subscribed i would be cancelling my sub. they shattered everything all of you have been saying they were planning when they got their additional funding. what a laughable shit company

Trying to conflate no Windower with Kings is pinnacle goalpost moving, but I'd still take it even if I had to have a separate box to play XI on so that I could do other stuff on another machine.

You can't trust literally anything they say. I have 0 interest in a 75 server cap but just because they say it isn't possible, does not mean that it isn't. This is the same company that said 0 updates after ROV etc.

I hope you realize that people like you, spicy and draylo are the problem. You have accepted this type of answer from SE. You have accepted garbage reskinned content while the game slowly decays into nothing. You're the problem. It isn't within your capabilities to admit wrong doing but maybe when you're doing ambuscade 10 years from now you'll consider this as a possibility.

I have said several times I would prefer ffxi classic as it is better than what we have now as far as player experience and things to do go. I would prefer SE just develop their fucking game though. Pretending like they are is the problem. Enjoy the shit you've chosen to lie in

People like you confuse me. Modern day ffxi has killed any and all sense of adventure. Leveling up is a joke. Exploration is a joke. When's the last time you walked through the dunes to do a mission or quest and cured some dude that was dying or raised him after he was trying to farm a sub job item. Interacted with someone outside of trolling yell. It doesn't exist. There is no sense of accomplishment.

Furthermore, based on previous posts, you don't even play modern day ffxi so you posting in this thread is more a projection of you disliking ffxi classic probably because of exclusion reasons.

I actually have to agree here. One of the other things that really "irks" me is the linkshell concierge system. I feel like it kills all the interaction BEFORE joining a LS, and instead you're mostly blindly picking LS that has decided to put a pearl on the vendor. Granted you can still shout for a LS but on many servers outside of Asura, you'll more than likely be ignored lol

I know Blizzard said no to WoW classic until they found a copy of the patch 1.12 data on a USB drive in storage so maybe something similar happens here, but I doubt it.

If you're subbed to the game, you are too. Even if you're subbed just for RMT purposes, you're paying them for this development.

It's 18 years old. Expecting lots of content or bold changes in a game they're carefully managing resources with to keep it profitable is ridiculous.

It's amazing they even continued to support it to the degree they have.

And think about it. You could literally have people working on the game that weren't even born when it released, but you somehow think this neo skeleton crew can bring back the feels from that era? Brah.

It's not really the fact that it was a more "engaging social experience" it was that you actually spoke with someone before getting a pearl, instead of just scooping one up from a NPC. Maybe it's just me but I actually liked communicating with someone before just busting in going "HAI GAIZ I JUST GRABBED A PEARL"
