It was this episode right here that made me initially wish I had Uncle Phil as my dad lol.

Watched the first few episodes of Bel-Air since I had a minute.

    Spoiler: show
I think perhaps the most dramatic shift in character comes through Carlton, who's gone from awkward, out-of-touch nerd to some kind of self-entitled Prince Joffrey tier asshole. Conversely, I think Hillary made out with getting some more characterization than just being some vapid bimbo brought up to 2020ish standards. Ashley didn't get a whole lot of screen time, but I imagine her just making some leftist talking points will piss off people. Geoffrey is less butler and more like a grounds attendant/bodyguard for Phil/maybe his friend while giving that wink and nod he may be more than let on. Was kinda worried Phil would be more self-centered and somewhat irredeemable like Carlton, but he started coming around as things went on with Vivian playing her part in that. Though, her own "traditionalist" views wind up the most conflicting with Hillary, so I can't 100% give her a "good mom" grade even though I'd say she's done the most defending for Will. As for Will, I think they kinda flipped the jokester and hot head aspects of the character. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's been kinda cringe.

I think probably the worst aspect of the show was the short time in Philly. A random not-yet-DA in CA somehow having the clout to get a random kid out of jail felt off now matter how much they tried to paint it as moving mountains. The fact the small-time drug dealer is now chasing Will to Bel-Air to try and off him is also pretty cringe when you figure all the people with phones filming the incident would've made it clear him and his boys started the skirmish that led to the gun draw. "It's not safe to go back!" really would've been enough.

Is it worth watching? I want to say it needs 3-4 more episodes for those who may be on the fence. And be ready to hear the N-word a lot.

Yeah, I watched those Sunday morning. I feel like if they had the whole season up, I would have probably kept going because I had nothing better to do, but it's not something I'll be thinking about on Wednesdays(?) and think "cool, new episode tomorrow". I'm probably going to let them pile up a bit and check back around the midpoint to see if things get better. I know what was advertised, but it just feels like "Bizarro Fresh Prince" where they threw every dramatic episode/storyline into a hat and pulled out two at a time. The original series was serious plenty of times. Can this series conversely try to be fun plenty of times? I sort of thought that they would just invert the sliders, rather than largely turning off the charm.

    Spoiler: show
EVIL CARLTON is such a trip. I assume that the 2nd half of the season will probably see a turning point, but they just dialed all that up to 100 to start rather than building to it. The amount of stuff they have done with him in 3 episodes could have filled an entire show's run. Look how they massacred my boy.

Phil's another weird one because when you got the heartfelt moments in the original, they felt like they meant something, that they'd built to those moments over the course of the series and the episode. Here it's like they're flying through things with him and it's just not landing for me.

Been watching season 2 of the new Saved By The Bell and it’s funny as fuck. They did a nice tribute to Screech in the first episode. Also the chick that plays Daisy has a fat ass.

To me it's the really unlikely success out of all these revival/reboots/whatever. There's a good balance between the original and new cast in play here and that was going to be one of the toughest things to do with this show.

School is closing. Saved By The Bell has been canceled by Peacock after two seasons.

Deadline understands that the cast and crew were told yesterday.

It comes only a month after the reboot of the classic NBC comedy won Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards.

The second season of the show dropped in November after the first season reportedly performed well for the streaming service.

Great, so streaming shows are going the way of music: churn and burn with no fucks given. Netflix is doing the same thing. Just make content. Getting sick of this shit.

Yeah. I recall reading an article about how netflix changed their entire strategy for producing original series' after the massive bust Marco Polo lost something like 400+ million dollars. Seems like other streaming services are starting to following the same mold too of quick and cheap pump and dumps for mildly relative success.

This is a real surprise, but there's no track record from Peacock to really compare to, so idk if it should be. I had completely expected disaster for this series, but especially by the 2nd season I felt as though they really kind of found a good balance between the old and the new. What a shame.

I was just going to say I hadn't heard (or forgot) about any news on AP Bio, but I see now that in December they pulled the plug on that. Damn. Didn't expect that to be a long term thing, so I always sort of viewed that as like "bonus content" anyway.

AP Bio was kind of like Community to me, underappreciated but really beloved by the small group that watched it, managed to hang on longer than expected, but ultimately unsurprising to get canceled.

Alternately, it's gonna drag every dedicated soap viewer to get Peacock.
Though, that's only a million these days, so not huge like it was back in the 70s/80s.

You really think old fucks still watching soaps know how to use a streaming service without asking their kids? Bro most old fucks can barely turn on their TV or use a smart phone or the debit card pad at the grocery store.
