i quit about a week into when salvage first started.

1) 'cause i was bored as shit, 2) 'cause one week of salvage showed me i wanted no part of it

ares was a nice substitute but not necessary

it’s really weird that i was a career drk, had ebody and ridill and most other top tier gear, and once i learned cannonball i just didn’t care anymore

I loved cannonball, I actually got to start going to events on BLU because of it. Swap me in to Ixion party once every minute to hit it and then kick me while I farm up TP on low level mobs waiting on my next turn. Ah, those were good times.

Cannonball BLU was probably the last memory I have of FFXI for the level 75 era before ditching it for a decade. BLU/THF was so much damn fun.

I think only Usukane (Mnk, Nin) was best in slot. Everyone else just needed 5/5 to even come close to the ideal Sky/King set up. Insert Invincible meme

Usukane gear was BiS in I want to say feet and maybe legs for those who could use it. This was back when haste+ gear was hard to come by.

But you needed the set bonus for Usukane to displace Byakko Haidate and Shura top for MNK or Haubergeon/AF3 for NIN. The feet alone may have been worth it, but Sky gear was still required unless you got 5/5.

And for heavy armor users, Haidate and Adaberk remained unbeaten.

For the most part, Homam was better for THF than Skadi.

Morrigan's set was p.good for BLM.

Ares body and something else were p.good for PLD if I remember right. Legs?

And usukane was mentioned.

I just wore signed HQ gear in town for the most part.

Had a Sharness +1 that I would constantly get tells from people asking to buy it. Crafter was an old LS mate of mine that quit and other people wanted something signed by them. No idea why. I had gotten lucky on an HQ craft.
