SE will be hosting a special 5 hour long FFXI streaming event for the 20th anniversary on May 8th. There will be interviews with devs and players as well as announcements regarding “the future of FFXI” so take that as you will. Stream will start at 3:45am EST so it’ll probably be over by the time you wake up that day.

Stream ended up being a big nothing burger. More Voracious Resurgence and Ambuscade on the way, a short Japanese documentary, and confirmation Matsui is leaving the game which we all kinda figured.

They could still make some kind of announcement on the official 20th anniversary which I believe is May 16th but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

As fun as that would probably be I have no clue how to stream on Twitch or YouTube and probably lack the equipment anyway like a decent PC, webcam, mic, etc

I haven't played XI in years, I am just repeating what I've heard about how granular SE is getting in terms of what they consider bannable third party software.

It’s mostly XIV they are cracking down on because spergs from 4chan are mass reporting streamers for the lulz and SE has to respond to it, it’s low effort XIV drama and I really doubt will impact XI in any meaningful way.
