Look, if he literally admitted to funding the server its clearly obvious something is going on behind the scenes. This guy has a huge ego and he is a millionaire. If you think he threw them a few pennies towards their server cost, you are really gullible. Most likely he met with these dummies on a different private server, they pitched him the idea for a new one and he gave them stipulations on what he wanted before he would fund it. They are at his beck and call. These are all people with complexes. They want to be top dog in Dragons Aery again and relive that childhood feels. I have no doubt there was a huge ad market campaign behind all this to push the server. Who the hell is streaming XI via 75 era in the numbers they are now? I see literal girls dressed like cats who mostly played XIV for vanity gear, they are streaming XI... give me a break, its all fake. Literally people in comments across all youtube videos on XI trying to convert people to HorizonXI "the biggest final fantasy server!"

Now, I don't believe the fact of who is funding it really matters that much unless SE goes after them, and there we can agree easily. Now, people can say they personally don't care, but obviously people care about the fact of the matter.

For some reason those 3-5 people think that a heavy majority of people (over 75%) who play on Horizon would be playing retail in 2023 if private servers didnt exist.
I could guarantee that the heavy majority of people who are playing on Horizon are partaking on that private server because it is F-R-E-E. Hundred's (maybe even well over a thousand) of people log back into XI during free login periods. Human's love free.

I would imagine that the majority haven't played XI in years or even ever, but there is no data on it. I know of a good number of people who either play currently, or have in the last couple years and are on Horizon now. So, the idea that some would come play retail is not unreasonable, and some would if it shutdown. Likely more than we would think, but it is probably not the majority of them.

I even said that from the beginning, I'm not out on a crusade to get it shut down. Most who have played it have been on retail on and off thru the years. My main thing was how fake all this shit appeared compared to the other dinky private servers. It's all suspicious.

A decent chunk of my old FFXI HNMLS is playing on Horizon. 0 of them play retail.

Cool so they bought into the hype, why didnt they play on the other dinky private servers as they came out? That ninja money is doing its job for sure, enjoy it while it lasts lol. What a shame he could have put that to actual good use and promoted the real FFXI.
