i think most people have a traumatic death that sticks with them, as evidenced by this thread.
can't let it rule your life though
shut the entire fuck up
Toki I’m not reading that
everybody on the planet has a loss that has affected them. if you don't then you're probably a sociopath
My wife still hasn't had a big loss and I'm seriously dreading it because she's a little fragile thing anyways. She's lost a couple grandparents but they weren't all that close. When one of her parents, friends, or one of our dogs goes it's going to be absolutely heartbreaking around here.
My wife was super upset when her hedgehog died. I buried it at my parents in a champagne box.
Then we got a parrotlet and she went outside when he was climbing on her and flew away. Had to walk around the neighborhood for a few days with her trying to find him, as if he was still around.
Added tldr
Meh loss is a weird thing as is grief , no one deals with it the same way. I'm definitely on the empath and emotional side of things where others I know are mostly logical. It doesn't mean they don't care , they just may not have emotional attachment the way I do or perceive things.
Years ago I dated someone who was basically devoid of emotions and couldn't even understand why I felt some ways and even went as far as to shame me and make fun of me for it , including after my mom died. Turns out his father abandoned his mom before he was born and never felt the desire to be close to anyone. Apparently though having kids of his own now changed that.

All grandparents, parents, and pets are dead.
I’m doing okay but honestly fuck family tbh
I'm glad nobody has lost a spouse or child. My wife had a miscarriage on our first pregnancy.
true for like 90% of situational depression situations.
now obviously there's actual depression. i don't see what you're saying has to do with my post though. if you're living your life depressed because someone died 10 years ago you have issues other than their death tbh.
it's totally cool to let it effect you/choke up every now and again thinking about it, but living your live revolved around it is a different story which is what i was saying.
you're one angry little guy
perhaps those of us cursed to outlive children may have yet to taste that particular trauma
dad of the high school friend lost it when his son died, stopped working, kinda abandoned the family, moved to a new state, and refrained from sobriety until he too died a few years later
i know my uncle carries his burden relatively well but yet is irrevocably scarred he had to identify his youngest daughter's body
