i have no idea how you got that from my post, as previously stated you're an angry little dude.
i was purely replying to dimm saying "thats why we're all fucked up"
The last time a death really affected me was in high school when one of the guys in my circle of friends died in a crash crash. We found out at school halfway through the day. It was 3 months before graduation.
My former debate coach passed three years ago. He had a tremendous impact on my life and is the reason I started working in debate again, but I was already deep in depression and didn't really feel the loss on a personal level.
I am 100% confident that I would not shed tears if I heard anyone else in my life died because of how inwardly numb I am. Breaking off my engagement (a 10 year relationship) didn't even phase me. I don't have a great relationship with my family to begin with even before my depression started.
What about the death of kings?
Mom sucked and i was kinda of expecting her to do what she did when it happens so it didn't hit me hard. It hit the ever living fuck out of my aunt (Mom's Sister) and sister (Who actually spent time with her) tho.
My old dipshit Chief deciding to end his life last week hit me harder though more because I'm like wtf dude you just had your 5th or 6th kid like two years ago but I've had a feeling shit was fucked up for him for awhile. His eyes looked like fucking racoon eyes and it seemed like the whole Navy life thing made him miserable and he leaned more and more on his spirituality than anything else.
The death that really hit me hard was my grandmother tho. Happened right before I joined the military and TBH I'm mad that she didn't get to meet my wife and daughter. She would've absolutely lost her shit and spoiled the girl and bllllpppttt it still sucks even if its been a decade since she passed away.
Anyway real talk none of you on spam suck really hard I'd have a drink with all of you.
Legitimately, I believe that was the trigger for my depression. I was diagnosed with adjustment disorder (with depressive mood) in 2012 after I finally quit XI but was unable to cope and move on. After six months they changed my diagnosis to MDD. In 2015 I stopped being "functioning" and couldn't force myself to go to work anymore.
I'm literally the manifestation of fat Thor from End Game. Only I won't ever get a chance to work out my trauma and sort through my failure. Counseling and medication (both SSRIs and MAOIs) have been ineffective. I might try electro convulsive therapy based on the recommendation but I'm not hopeful because I know the source of my depression isn't chemistry/brain related.
My wife miscarried the first time as well, but it was very early on so I don't think it effected us as much as a later term miscarriage would have.
My grandparents are all gone. Three to cancer, one to old age and dementia that had him falling down trying to go to the bathroom at night and fuck it tears me up inside when I think about him being found by the nursing home staff saying "I'm sorry, I tried to be good," god dammit I can't stop thinking about it. Before he was in nursing care my aunt found him in his room one day packing a suitcase because he was getting ready to ship out and go to war.
Thinking about what a man my grandpa was and how he ended, if my mind ever starts going like that I just want someone to end it for me.

I have two really.
My father passing away: He had a lot of health problems (previous heart attack, asthma, etc.), and lived in CT where it's cold, so in many respects it was only a matter of time. He woke up one night to use the bathroom, fell, and was gone (didn't die from the fall, fall was a result of him dying). Losing him was really rough as is since he was my father, but what made it insanely worse was it happened three days before my son was born. Meaning I couldn't go to the funeral, or help out with paperwork or anything. Plus, this was supposed to be an extremely happy time and it wasn't. My dad never got to see my son's face or even know his name as I expected to tell him on the day of his birth.
This leads to my other one: my best friend that passed last year. He had no family around here so I was the one cleaning all his stuff out. Some of the stuff he had makes me so sad to see how depressed he was, and some of that was my fault. I have so much of his stuff still in my garage. Can't bear to part with it, can't use it. I need someone to show up and toss the stuff while I go shopping or something.
I'm kinda in this boat. One of my grandmothers died when I was 13 but for some reason it didn't hit me hard. Her husband (my dad's dad) was dead 10 years before I was even born so I never knew him. Never lost a close friend. Had a few people at work that I knew that passed but I wasn't close with them. Lost a dog when I was about 16ish, cat when I was about 22ish. Losing the cat sucked cuz she only liked me and my dad.
My dogs dying last January and then May really fucking sucked though. I still miss them all the time and still have the one from May's favorite stuffed toy. I hate thinking about it because I wish I approached pitting them down so much differently. Even now as I theyre it, I'm welling up a bit because there's parts of it I regret so much
Honestly, only death that may wreck me in the future is my dad or Astylla. Personally my biggest fear is outliving all my family and developing dementia and passing away not even remembering people I lived or cared about. Hopefully if that day comes assisted suicide will be legal and accepted as I'd rather go out on my terms then in a nursing home and not even knowing who I am or why I'm there.

who's on board to start a BG homicide-suicide pact where we take care of one another if things get too far
man, you know Robin Williams was like nope not gonna do this without lucidity
sath why we no go drinkin no mo
nah, fam. i mean, sure, there might have been more you could have done to spend time with him or whatever, but it's not like you have a magic aura of anti-depression. your presence ain't gonna cure him of depression.
i seem to recall saying this before and iirc you found some journals that mention you being distant or some shit. you don't contribute to someone's depression just by living your own life.
The very thing that makes depression depression and not just sad is that it's not a normal/healthy response to emotional stimuli. changing the emotional stimuli might help, or it might make it worse. the point is that there's no way to tell because shit's broke. so don't beat yourself up over ifs and buts.
we've all got lives to live and sometimes they don't go in the same direction as the people we love.
my only death related regret is that i am not dead yet
