You guys ever used the VRE? A bunch of us are moving out of the pentagon and into a new building in the NE within the next month or two. Checked the googles and it looks like it’s a 10~ min walk from Union Station.

Shit is a game changer if I can just hop on the train to commute to work. If for nothing else than to not have to deal with parking in the city.

I never use it but it would probably be a solid move from your neck of the woods, you can pick it up in Manassas and not have to deal with the worst traffic in the fucking world like I do every day

I haven't personally but I have friends who use VRE or MARC and swear it's a game changer.

I live right next to a metro stop and work right next to another metro stop.

My friend and his wive take the MARC from Rockville to Union Station. He walks afterwards. She takes a circulator bus to the Naval Yard. Play Switch/mobile games or watch Netflix on the commutes.

If I were to metro to and from my office every day it would cost the same as a car payment so I just bought a car and sit in the traffic LOL

thank god for podcasts, I have a 1:15 commute to and :55 from work right now.

I’d save around 120-140 on gas and 2-3 hours piece of mind from idling in traffic. It’d be absolutely worth it for me personally. I just gotta get one of those commuter benefit cards that you can deposit into straight from your paychecks pre-tax.

Losing three hours a day is not my idea of a good time. If trains are quicker, I'd do that. If it's the same amount of time and there's always a hassle with trains, I'd drive.

Having previously commuted 1.5 to 2 hours to work and 1.5 home every day I can say for certain that if it were the same amount of time either way I'd much rather sit on a train than sit in traffic.

Yeah my commute at the moment is always usually 1-1.5 hours there and 1 back. At this new location though I’m looking at 2+ hours each way easy versus a 55 minute train ride with a 10 minute walk.

Six miles, 10-15 minutes tops for me to drive each way to and from work, and amazingly that's double what I had when I was at the jail of 4 miles round trip and 8 minutes each way.
