2020 is going to come around and enthusiasm is going to shoot down when Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, and Pelosi all act like Trump is someone they have to respect after they just voted to proceed with impeachment hearings because nothing truly matters and despair at electorialism continues to rise.

I think you might swing too far to the left to understand how she operates, tbh.

You can only game for so many votes on the far left (if they even care to go out and vote). You also need to play to the middle of the base as well as center right. She's setting the tone to try and play for those votes as well.

That 2nd line you just typed is exactly why Democrats fail to vote together when it really should be very simple to beat Trump at the polls due to sheer numbers. We all know dude is a piece of shit. What really matters is who you can actually get to go to the polls and actually vote him out.

I'm not arguing a left vs right perspective on this. I'm arguing she should be instilling some form of enthusiasm within her base to be excited about holding a power person to account. With the emphasis on holding a power person to account and not just dunking on a republican. And its an issue with her ideology and what can be extended to some of the democratic establishment's tendencies. Whether it be Pelosi saying she knew Iraq was based off of bad intel and held off on impeaching bush over it or Chuck Schumer inventing an imaginary family to represent some sort of republican friendly centrist ideology to guide him forward or Joe Biden recently proclaiming that you should vote but him but stay a republican because democrats need to be kept in check.

She's as much of a grifter as the krassensteins.

If she was any bit as progressive as she's led a lot of people to lead on she'd be a founding mother of the squad. Instead the moment the progressive caucus gained teeth she fucking vanished.

Maybe. This has always been the case -- she's fundamentally different from that of someone who would instill enthusiasm because she wants to score points on the left. Establishment votes have always been reliable, so she makes chess moves to keep the status quo. She didn't get to her status by just playing her case to one side, she got there because what she does is ruthless behind the scenes. Pragmatic, like I said before.

Let me as you this -- if Joe Biden becomes the nominee, will you hold your nose and vote for him instead of Trump? Or stay home?

If their votes were reliable she wouldn't have to make the chess moves to keep them in her caucus. Someone who you have to continuously fight to vote for your party line isn't reliable.

Secondly yes I live in Texas and there's a small chance it might swing D (Unlikely) but also why does it matter how I feel? There's plenty of media out there that shows leftists that aren't aligned with electoralism. I have a dipshit lib friend who defected to the libertarian party instead of florida because hillary clinton was the nominee because he couldn't remotely muster any enthusiasm for her. Now he's on board the warren train for 2020 (And probably after being beaten up on facebook over will likely vote for biden as well). I, you, and a whole lot of people can get mad at dipshits who don't practice pragmatism. Pelosi (Or the next house rep) is about to enter an era of personal hell when the progressive caucus actually grow a pair of balls like they did against the recent pharma negotiation bill.

I never said I enjoy this brand of pragmatism at all by the way. I just understand how it goes and that there is honestly no other option available once the dust settles.

How you feel matters because people like you (and your friend) are the most important factors in who wins and who loses. People like me will vote whoever the Dem nominee is because we've learned to hold our noses well and make what should be an obvious choice (especially now in these zany fucking times with an absolute clown in office). Much like 2016 we will have people like your friend who hem and haw because the nominee isn't who they want it to be and will choose any option other than the obvious one because they want to make a statement which leads to an utterly wasted vote. It's really not rocket science. People on the left one and all outnumber those on the right so getting them to vote in unison should be the most important factor.

I also have a feeling the Progressives will remain lacking in any real power other than just being loud. The same issue arrives -- their brand of politics is popular, but it's vastly outnumbered by moderates and conservatives who actually go out and vote. I'll be really interested in seeing how these Progressive firebrands evolve in the next 10 years. They will likely also become more conservative as they amass wealth and influence, which effectively neuters them.

We'll see. The Progress Caucus ballooned in 2018 and as I just learned they're three times larger than the Blue Dog Caucus. (And also larger than the problem solvers caucus as well). I also speculate a trend that conservative democrats are going to be a dying breed between the last 10 years of shifting demographics and upcoming redistricting from the 2020 census. Personally I'm just gonna be hard as fuck until the primary settles down, pull a gred after the results become apparently, and then vote blue no matter who. There are some people who are already in that mode right now and I'm like jfc you got 3 months before Iowa even begins ffs.

New York's IDC got fucking nuked from orbit so I'm hoping the same can be done in congress. Impeachment is going to be a very useful tool for weeding out the unbelievers. One already jumped because his poll numbers absolutely tanked.

Knowing that there is more of a chance of me becoming president than this happening...

How many Rs would we need to pull in the senate for anything to happen?

Both, lol. Ironically, it's an argument that should happen or at least be called to attention constantly. I think the Progressive movement is interesting, but they continuously embody the mindset of putting the proverbial cart before the horse -- focus on actually winning first before blowing up old antiquated DNC values.

19 I think? I wouldn't expect anything to happen. Mitch McConnell is doing everything he can to make this end as quickly as possible so they can go back to confirming more judges.

The dumb ones argue this (h/t Jimmy Dore). The smart ones realize what they say fucking matter and get on with the pragmatic mindset after the primary.

Most of the Trump supporters I’m seeing on my FB have zero concern about this and are actually getting amusement owning more libs with sick memes about how Dems think this is actually going to do anything.

Y’all better be ready for five more years of Trump because his cult of personality overpowers any chance for rational thinking. And these people will vote en masse.

    Will they? I wonder.

I'm curious how much we see now is the amplified base that will never desert him under any circumstances enjoying their platform and volume. How many people voted for Trump in 2016 are still equally as enthused in 2020? Because if the answer is 70,000 less than it was through 3 or 4 states, it's a different story.
