Like others, my only hope is that it does motivate those who sat out last election. As is, the process demonstrates the Dems are at least trying to drain the swamp, while certain GOP figures are being the very swamp monsters that need to be drained. Sure, it'd be fantastic if the Senate suddenly developed a conscience and instead of death by a thousand cuts we got a decapitation that also takes out Pence and calls into question various lifetime appointments made under Trump and his cabal, but we know that's not gonna happen precisely because the cost of that conscience is power they don't wanna surrender.

This is what I would like to see. I think there should be more of a "boots on the ground" effort for local and state election support.

There should be. A lot more. There also should be a much larger effort in getting people to see beyond their differences to vote in unison against this guy.

That’s always been the case. It’s been superseded by not only Trump but social media and the 24/7 news cycle in general.

All that needs to happen now is a big effort in encouraging people to vote despite the political BS. If you dislike Trump, go vote. If you know people aren’t educated on how, reach them the basic process. Simple.

Nope, as an independent I'm frankly appalled at how quickly people hop the fuck on to the anti-thisperson train because they didn't score 20/20 on the overall liberalness scale.

Can't forget the closure/relocation of polling venues, or the lack of same-day registration even if people decide they want to. Basically, there's a lot of procedural fuckery in various stages of the process.

The people who are fired up to get out and vote for Trump will be under any circumstances. His base is his base and there's no "owning" them under any circumstances. They will literally never see another point of view and many of them will go to their graves swearing Trump was the greatest President they ever lived through.

Whatever political points there are to score through impeachment isn't for them.

I’m also Independent and feel the same way. I’ll vote which ever way I feel serves the interest of my personal values, which has been on the side of the left for quite some time now.

However, Trump is a different breed entirely of which most of us here agree. He doesn’t care about values, decorum or really anything that doesn’t serve his own personal interests. Not only this but he’s taken it much further than any other self serving president in office. He’s unfit, a charlatan and a sham.
