The report literally states that despite 17 incidents of misconduct from FBI agents during the course of the investigation, they found no evidence of any political influence, nothing improper about the origins of the investigation and that there was sufficient evidence to open it.

If your complaint is solely focused on the FISA warrant application, then I'll concede the IG does conclude that the FBI omitted or altered testimony in order to obtain it. That's highly problematic and evidences overreach by the agency. As for the rest of it, the report unambiguously states that there was nothing improper about the investigation or the reasons for it.

What irks me the most in this situation is that the FBI did do something wrong and he only emphasized that after the narrative of "this means the entire Russia report was wrong!" was challenged.

Guartz I will spell it out for you yet again, the Mueller report found undeniable evidence of wrongdoing, sent multiple associates of the President to prison, concluded Russia absolutely did interfere in the 2016 election on the President's behalf, left open the question of how much Trump personally knew or controlled but only due to other people not carrying out his orders to collude with a foreign power, and told Congress that since no legal remedies were available he recommended political remedies, which one could reasonably assume meant Congressional hearings and impeachment.

Also, as has been stated, his son publicly admitted that they accepted a meeting with Russia in order to obtain dirt on Hillary.

Every time you attack the Mueller report or the Russia investigation you look like a desperate drowning man flailing for something to hold on to while insisting that you can breathe underwater.

SO when Brennan said under oath that he did nothing illegal, technically it's true. But he did lie that Steel Dossier wasn't a prime consideration. Speaking of Steel Dossier:

This report goes out of it's way to present this information not as malice/political bias but utter incompetence on FBI's on the ground level part. They are throwing the low hanging fruit to the wolves.
