Just quickly did the math, 7 games into the season the Patriots defense is giving up 3.9 points per game (6.8 in total with fumble returns and whatnot).

Even in regards to strength of schedule that is absolutely fucking insane.

Oh and they also put up 31.8 points per game, which of course is #1 in the NFL

before i get into it, yes, by these ratings the pats also have the number 1 defense

but these rating account for opponent strength based on offense and defense, and you can see the offensive ratings here

the pats have played, at best, the 24th ranked offense of the Steelers, which yes is probably skewed because big ben rip

i am aware that not allowing points is still significant, but are you really saying this defense is going to compare to the 2000 ravens or 85 bears
