Simmons is still better then Mitchell, even if Mitchell is absolutely lighting up the scoreboards right now

I mean, Simmons is one of the top 5 defensive players in the league and a top tier playmaker. Simmons regular season was 17/8/8 vs 24/4/4 for Mitchell, which is a wash if you're not accounting for Simmons elite defense.

And during the regular season the Sixers were 3-1 against the Celtics, then get swept without Simmons, which I feel like is a very solid indicator of his value.

Simmons is averaging 16, which is the same PPG as his rookie season. He will never be a top tier player until he learns to shoot the ball from range, especially on today’s NBA.

Mitchell is averaging damn near 40 PPG in the playoffs against a very good Nuggets team.

Mitchell’s scoring efficiency, assists and overall output have steadily increased through three years while we’re still left wondering if Simmons will ever develop a jump shot. You’re smoking crack if you think those two players are on the same level rn

Among ballots that are publicly known so far basically every voter has Simmons as First Team All-Defense and in the top 5 for DPOY, and a large majority have Simmons as 3rd team All-NBA. I haven't seen Mitchell's name on any ballots.

Yeah Mitchell is a much better scorer and is absolutely lighting it up right now, but I'd still give Simmons the edge as the overall better player.

You seem to be missing my point so I'll reiterate: Simmons will never be an elite player until he develops a reliable jump shot. Mitchell is playing as an elite player right fucking now.

Paul George is a top tier defender and he still got sent home by a Lillard step back 30+ footer. Kawhi is an elite defender and he still got caught by an off ball screen seconds before Luka drained the game winning shot. Kawhi and PG were BOTH guarding Booker before he abused them for yet another highlight.

Simmons could average 30/10/10 if he shot at a consistent clip from range. But until then, he's just a glorified role player in today's NBA

Kris is really good but yuh there's an enormous gap between the Bucks' 1 & 2 that doesn't exist for any other contender but Houston
