whooooooooooooooooosh
whooooooooooooooooosh
The Lakers and LeBron actually surprises me.
Charania added a further tweet that it was every team except for the two LA teams that wanted to continue
It's enough of a driving force, I expect the league to cancel the season by mid day tomorrow.
Question now becomes will next season happen. All eyes on the NFL to man up and cancel now right?
no?
shit's bonkers
i love the NBA more than i love my non-existent children but if the dudes feel it's right
i'm in the camp that thinks they should play and use the stage as a forum. we wouldn't have those clips from CP3, Doc, and C Webb if it weren't for these games. but who am I to judge
Why are you so desperately against sports being a thing?
The NBA is going about this the right way. The players decided that the restart was the best way to help spread a message, if there had never been a resumption of play the players would have had no platform like we're seeing right now. And honestly keeping the season going would be the best way to keep the conversation moving and provide the players a continued platform to speak on what they care about.
If the players decided to cancel the season it would probably dominate the headlines for a day or two, and then the media machine would move on.
The players have prominent platforms on social media, thousands if not millions of followers. I'm not saying whether cancelling the season is right or not, but I don't think it's a question of whether they have a platform or not but rather would people bother to listen to them on those platforms if it wasn't connected to a game that was about to be played or just finished being played
The thing is though that they aren’t stopping mid-play to talk about BLM.
Before the game? After? The people you need to reach have stopped watching or pressed mute.
Just because the season is cancelled doesn’t change the fact that they all have 500k twitter followers. Play, dont play, doesn’t matter. That is where their platform for change is.
The F1 reddit is full of racist white eurotrash that state proudly that they don’t turn on the coverage until after the drivers take their moment of solidarity to kneel and protest against racism before each race.
This tweet really resonated with me

I don't remember where it was posted, on here or on twitter or what, but someone said something along the lines of white supremacists being fine with watching and using black people for their entertainment, just not with them being treated equally
Kenny walked out mid-broadcast in support of the players

nfl contracts aren't like nba contracts. if they don't report the players not only don't receive their salary but they are also fined per missed practice and per missed game... its a shit ton of money.
the nfl and nfl player association also just amended all terms to every player contract in the league so that every player had the option to opt out of the season before july 24th, no questions asked. that date is passed so the players that chose not to opt out have two choices: play or retire
lastly players had a whole "i want to play" campaign with pretty much every single high profile player in the league fighting to have a season. the players changing their mind on a dime after having month long negotiations with the league to get it going is some seriously short sighted shit. rewriting collective bargaining agreements isn't easy or fast
Yeah NFL contracts are awful for the players as far how easy it is for a team to end one and kick a player to the curb
it's funny because as i was typing that i was thinking "i'm sure there's plenty of people who'll turn it off or mute"
but yeah i mean overall i think the impact of quitting play is greater than the impact of being able to do a doc rivers or chris webber after the game.
NBA players have voted to continue the season. Today’s games still postponed.
