I agree except that I feel like new players being locked out of Ana, Sombra, Moira, Orisa, Doomfist, Sigma, Hammond, Ashe, Echo, Sojourn, Brig, and Baptiste is a fundamental change for the worse for both them and their teammates. The only way Competitive can possibly be balanced with this crap is just not letting people play competitive unless they have every hero unlocked already.

I was more meaning the toxic environment and stuff like that. Gating the characters in that fashion is shitty either way, because now you can't be new and want to be competitive without doing extra hoops.

They're saying it'll take 100 matches to unlock all heroes, and it takes 50 wins in QP to unlock comp, so there's a good chance a lot of players won't have comp unlocked before they unlock all the heroes.

Still a stupid change.

Started playing OW1 on a whim cause I was bored, and kinda glad I did cause I forgot all about ow2 and how OW1 was sunsetting (but not closing servers). Had some fun games, forgot how fun custom games could be, and I hope they turn this around but I sure ain't holding my breathe.

This video showed up in my YT feed. Either I never heard of this PvE stuff (this much detail of it) before or it's been so long that I forgot about it, but it sounds like everything I hoped for. He starts talking about it just after the 4 min mark and there's actual video footage of it.

Was talking with a OW group the other day about this. This game had so many bad moments, but there's just something about a game that prioritizes teamwork that feels so good when you get it right, especially if your team is 6 people big. It really reminds me of the magic of FFXI back in the day, but just like with that there was so much bad to go with the good that idk how I really feel about it in the end.

I still put 700 hours in so it did something right

I did that with 3-6 friends at all times though, so that's not nothing. We talk all the time about finding another game but there's nothing that's always there and ready for us to drop into.

PVE was basically like, the very first thing OW2 was billed on. Like the original OW2 announcement/gameplay trailer was entirely around the PVE side of things, they even had a preview for an entire stage at one point, showcasing the loot drops and some of the hero customizations. But yah, that was years ago lol.

Current discourse is that people who bought game were allowed to preload while f2p have to wait until servers go live. The paid version includes all of the OW1 characters, some skins, and a battlepass skip for $40.

Original stuff yes, no battle pass though, which is why Blizzard caved and started allowing refunds on the game after they announced the starter pack.
