Consensus seems to be, at least partially, a mismatch between the previous Ant Man films being more lighthearted fun, and this one being heavy and largely a plot vehicle for advancing phase 5, which is not that surprising.

Can't help but feel like this one being heavier is part of the point. The tonal shift is meant to highlight the threat of Kang.

Gotta love the reviewers that dock Marvel movies for being formulaic while also docking this one for being a departure from the Ant Man formula.

They did that intentionally though. Seems like a dumb reason to rate the movie badly based on a previous movie.

Oh I get the idea of an intentional tonal shift, it just (based solely off 'critics') sounds like it didn't quite nail the nuance/balance to land it properly.

Just got out of it. Before I give my thoughts: just confirming that there is an actual after credit scene not just a title card.

It's definitely a setup film, but I don't think anyone expected anything else. Kang kills it in every scene and the movie is super trippy, would probably be fun to watch this on acid or something.

Definitely not anything great but certainly isn't Thor Dark World levels of terrible by any means. Sets up for a whole lot of Kang going forward obviously. Also can't help but wonder if instead of Hank being responsible for Ultron if the MCU just made him responsible for Annihilus instead thanks to his Quantum realm friends. That was a whole lot of big and potentially vicious bugs under the wrong leadership.

Yeah other than the typical discourse, I don't get all the bad press this movie is getting. I rather enjoyed it. Wasn't amazing, but I was entertained the entire movie.

At this point we're 31 movies in, and if you are expecting an academy award winning movie, I don't what to tell you. I still enjoy them just for what they are.

The number of times a character easily escaped guards was laughably awful. There was some *extremely* amateur writing and post production / cuts in this

Letting Ant-Man defeat Kang was a terrible decision. Kang should have been used as an opportunity to kill off at least half this cast and present him as a real threat.

I take it back, this movie was bad.

Oh and the mid credit scene…did they have 20 minutes for makeup and filming??? Good grief absolute gutter trash
