Mookie+David Price to the Dodgers
Mookie+David Price to the Dodgers
Boooo
What am I missing here from the Angels perspective of the deal. Rengifo for Joc Pederson? Not only does that seem like a non-essential deal to the bundle, but horribly unbalanced?
Are they the "cash"?

Pete Rose petitioning for reinstatement citing inconsistencies with punishments including the Astros sign stealing
He's not wrong, its not like he was cheating, let alone so blatantly.
What a complete shit show the Betts trade became. Now that it's finished, the dodgers trade of joc Peterson to the angels is now dead.

They should just keep him, he's better than AJ Pollock, their outfield will be far and away the best in the majors.
Jesus that team is stacked, they have at least a 3.0 fWAR player at every position except 2B, where top prospect Gavin Lux is a bit of a question mark, and two legit MVP candidates.
It's one of the annoying things about baseball, at least right now. I follow the Braves closely and track how we're improving around the margins, prospects coming up to take over every day positions, etc
Then you look up and you have these superteams like the Dodgers, Astros, Yankees(?), that are so absurdly stacked at every position with a loaded bench. So many things would have to go right to win a 7 game series against those teams

Boston named Ron Roenicke as interim manager
Sources: MLB weighing major changes to postseason, including growing number of teams to 14
MLB is considering a move in which each league would have three division winners and four wild-card teams making the postseason starting in 2022, sources said. The best team in the league would receive a bye into the division series. The two remaining division winners and the wild-card team with the best record of the four would each host all games of a best-of-three series in the opening round.
Once the teams clinch and the regular season ends, the plan gets congested:
The division winner with the second-best record would select its wild-card opponent from the three wild-card winners not hosting a series.
The division winner with the worst record would then choose its opponent from the remaining two wild-card teams.
The final matchup would pit the wild-card winner with the best record against the wild-card team not yet chosen.
All of the selections, sources said, would be unveiled live on television the Sunday night of the final regular-season games.
It's just awful, and MLB/Manfred has rightfully been getting heavily roasted for it.
Absolutely love this.
The choose your opponent bit sounds ridiculous.
The playoffs is fine as is. October baseball is the best sports time of the year. We don’t need it to be like the NBA where half the teams get in and it lasts for months.
Bauer is absolutely right tho about how baseball uses social media, how Manfred panders to owners (TV/blackout issues), and how young people use social media. He raises the point regarding Manfred having that deal with BAM and how it created up front money but basically at what cost. I love the "Steph Curry throws a bounce pass and gets 1.5m views. Mike Trout robs a homer and you can't find the highlight anywhere online". It's a great point. Also, LOVE the point about the cleat policy and just letting players have personality in general. Let the players have personality and actually market the players since baseball has the most players and the most diverse group of athletes.
"Rob, if you're watching this video, you probably won't because you don't even have a pulse on the game you're commissioner of."
Reading the astros press conference this morning was a disaster. Jim Crane saying dumb shit like the cheating didn’t have an actual impact on the game.
Rule changes for 2020
+Pitchers must face a minimum of 3 batters or finish the half of an inning
+Roster size increased from 25 to 26 (27 for doubleheaders). Pitcher max of 13 (14 for doubleheaders)
+September roster size decreased from 40 to 28.
+Two-way player is officially a designation (Ohtani + Lorenzen.) Does not count towards the 13 pitcher roster restriction.
+Position players may only pitch when either the game goes to extra innings or a team is winning/losing by 6 or more runs.
+Pitchers and two-way players returning to a 15 day Injured List. Also pitchers optioned to the minors must say a minimum 15 days. Position players continue to have a 10 day IL/10 day minor league option.
Jesus those statements by Jim Crane. Also, fuck Bregman.
Regarding the changes I think they are unneeded overall. The one change tho that has me feeling a way about tho is the minimum of batters pitchers must face. Last year I did notice how excessive it was getting with pitching changes. I'd joke to myself in some cases that we'd see three pitchers for one batter because metrics showed pitcher A had a better fastball, pitcher B a better curve, and C a better change. However, it makes complete sense for numerous changes when considering it from a coaching perspective. So in a way Manfred is taking away coaching abilities because he thinks not allowing more pitching changes will somehow get viewership up? Stupid.
Also the IL changes for pitchers is a big one since some teams *cough* Dodgers *cough* were using the IL like a carousel for short term call-ups, resting their roster pitchers without really feeling the pain of actually losing roster spots.
I'm fine with the changes. One of MLBs main issues is the games take too fucking long and the micromanagement of bullpen is part of the reason
