Until he learns how to function as a pocket passer, defenses will be able to shut him down by keeping him in the pocket. He can’t continue to run the ball 17 times per game (yes, that was his actual average number of carries as a starter!) and last an entire season without an effective passing game. He averaged only 159.1 passing yards/game as a starter, and that won’t work when he has to match up against Roethlisberger, Mayfield, Mahomes, Wilson, Brady, Goff, etc.

If he looks horrible and the media isn't there he can still cry that he looked amazing. I fail to see how this doesn't work both ways easily.

The fact they are even giving him a shot should be enough. If you think he was good enough to be anything but a back up you're quite silly
