i could not care less about named cameos but like are the acting and plot and cinematography good you feel

I mean, it's a fun, fairly well produced space show I guess, riffs on the usual stuff, some westerns, some Kurosawa, other classics etc, but the payoffs/references/knowing winks for the big SW nerds are certainly a big selling point. It manages to act as fan service that is still fairly solidly executed, unlike the poorly written pandering of JJ's attempts, that's for sure. Like it skews towards "give the people what they want" without hitting "tumblr fanfic", imo anyways.

Mandolorian is very well produced and imagined, but it's not exactly pinnacle story telling. You'll see most plot threads a mile away, especially if you're a fan, but the execution is just so well done that it doesn't matter. TV is rarely done this competently.

Also each season is only 8 episodes, and they're rarely over 40min each. It's not a big ask at all

It seemed like people were truly enjoying a show based around the star wars universe but still very unrelated to the movies and recognizable figures. Do people really want any and all star wars related shows/movies to eventually drift back to luke skywalker and his immediate circle? I thought star wars had a lot to work with but it seems like it cant hop off the skywalker family and various nostalgia callbacks. Ya'll just hype cuz you got to see a non Rian luke or?

I am hoping this is a very badass one off moment to send Baby Yoda off the show in a grand fashion and future seasons will be focused back on Mando doing his own thing. They were going to be in danger of this becoming the Mando & Baby Yoda show if they didn’t figure out a satisfying way to end that arc. It made sense from a story perspective as we know there are not many Jedi left at all, and of the ones we know about only Luke was actively seeking out force users to teach. The show has done a fine job of introducing interesting original characters so I don’t mind the big cameo if done rarely and for the right story beats.

So the mandolorian is just more pandering instead of actual creative content. Star Wars has to have the tiniest fucking galaxy in the universe lol.
