If if was the plan all along they could have been a lot more up front about it.
Don't think they actually directly started framing it this way until Georgia was done, they were still letting people go along with the idea of 600+2000
anyone who was paying the slightest attention knew that was the plan since day 1. they were upfront about it people just heard $2000 and started salivating
they literally said "$2000 checks day one" the day before the runoff in GA, after the 600 was out, that's misleading af(even if common sense would suggest the copout was inevitable)
haha, y'all got played by the libs, shoulda voted Trump...he woulda gotten you guys that money
The bill democrats introduced in the house to amend the $600 payment, changed it to $2000, not $2400. This is just moving the goalposts.
I'm not arguing intent, I'm arguing perception. You tell people who are hurting financially that if you help them win the election that "a $2000 check will go out immediately", then after they help you go "well actually..." that looks dishonest af. Messaging is important, and by using the phrasing that they chose they set up this easily avoidable pitfall. "the rest of your money" "the rest of the 2k" would have been perfectly clear, but by opting to use "2k checks" then saying "not literally checks for 2k" they look incompetent at best, and manipulative/deceitful at worst, and it's entirely their own fault. they took what should have been an easy win and through ill-conceived communication turned it into ammo to be used against them.
wheres my 2000 dollar check joe
