Eh, I'd feel bad about missing out on the company of my coworkers, but I'm a friendly guy and enjoy their company. But as I get older I realize I should care about that less and just make that cheddar, but it def weighs on my mind

That's true, and also been my philosophy. But yeah always feel bad for the friends I've made in coworkers.
I have an opportunity to move back home for like a 20% pay increase, home is where friends/family are but the landscape is also less desirable.. but home also has way lower cost of living. Can't decide tbh. Prob gonna flip a coin

My company has absolutely fantastic retirement plans, benefits, etc. So it's very difficult for me to see a smidgen of increased pay every few years outweighing that.
Plus, as far as yearly reviews, if you're halfway competent you get a 3% increase every year.

No cap on that either. It's straight up 3%. Which obviously becomes more and more significant.
Not to mention I'd be giving up 4 weeks of vacation time -per year- as well.

I love my job, I'm just nervous about how the car industry is changing. I'm hoping to retire before we get into the majority of cars being fully electric.
Though obviously a company this large has a plan I'm sure. But a part of that plan is definitely going to be a reduction in staff. There's just no way around it. I should be in upper level management, or may go into auditing, or R & D by then.
Lots and lots of routes. Trying to figure out which one will be the safest long term
