Ya. I've never lost sight of that because I've worked for several corporations before. I know how shitty they can be.
It's kind of hilarious, because half of the managers in my region left the company at some point, then came back less than a year later. Fucks them over on resetting their retirement timeline, but it speaks volumes to how good we've got it.
Don't get me wrong. There's still a lot of stupid corporate fuckery that happens, but it's small potatoes compared to what most people deal with.

My benefits boss and coworkers are dope too. And I really believe in the place where I work...
But more money and moving back to friends and family is super tempting
Idk how old you are or what your family status is (married, kids, etc) but there does come a time where you have to seriously look at what's best long term.

Unless those friends and coworkers are your new family, i think that choice is pretty easy. Buy a cybertruck with the extra money lol

I mean, unless you're saying you're moving from the city life to bum fuck Idaho. Then I get the dilemma lol

Eh I get it. Making new friends is hard

I get 12% before any matching to my 403-b, 3 weeks of vacation + 2 weeks of sick leave per year, and full matching on 403-b up to a total of 29(?)% employer contribution and a guaranteed ~3% raise per year.
And I shitpost on here all day.
My ass is staying put til I max out at 10-10
Des moines...iowa? Sounds BFN to me.
Maybe youll run into those scary people in jumpsuits and masks.
pay 0 for amazing healthcare and get $1800/year put into my HSA from my employer tho so that's pretty amazing
for real tho, have any of you moved a great distance away from family? regret it at all?
I've had family move away for those reasons, and it sucks, but it was needed and everyone adjusted.
Bears repeating that it sucks, but we gotta make big boy decisions now that were adults

I'm originally from Eastern Washington and in the last 11 years I've gone San Diego > Oakland > Cape Cod > Seattle, and looking to go to either back to Oakland or to Long Beach next year.
Moving that much can suck, but it's military life and it's never overly bothered me. It's not *that* hard to meet new people unless you're a complete shut in, and even then this world is so goddamn connected these days it's still easy to keep up with friends and family no matter where you live.
Ok well that's partially a lie, Cape Cod bothered me cause that place was fucking awful, but at least I liked my co-workers in and out of work so I survived.
I don't live close to any family but they're all within a range of about 2-7 hours driving. It might be nice to be closer but I like my job and meet a lot of interesting women here.

yeah i don't have many problems making friends, more concerned with the family aspect of things.
i moved away from mine 2 years ago and feeling like it was a bit of a mistake, feels like moving back to des moines iowa is a bit of a career ender tho.
