I don't think I've seen anyone praise the story yet. Everyone's been saying it's meh

If the gameplay is as awesome as it seems, I can probably forgive the meh story

I've only watched Shill-Up's take, but he says the game has a lot of redundant controls that aren't used outside of the puzzle zone. He said everyone at the event got stuck at the same parts that the devs who were appointed to watch them had to step in multiple times to help them move on.

    Crimson Desert

The combat in BDO was fun but the game was such a technical mess it wasn’t worth the constant headache of random ass glitches, frame drops, crashes, and invisible loading screen walls.

Maybe PA got their act together, but I’d be cautious before dropping any money on this.

The only thing I can remember about it was your little shadow buddy getting creepier and creepier as the story went along lol

PC version has Denuvo DRM, but the devs say it hasn't affected performance and the all of the preview builds were with Denuvo enabled.

Someone got an early copy on PS5 and confirmed that the initial download is 77GB and a day one patch of 48GB. The day one patch is required to play the game offline.

The reviews making me want to play this. Getting lost in the world is more engaging than the main storyline. Sounds very Elder Scrolls/Fallout, which has been my jam.

Playing a bit, it's basically high fantasy Just Cause, with some extreme jank

Story is barely there, it's just a big physics sandbox with some decent combat mechanics

    I've been playing the game.

The starting area is very on rails with non-stop fetch quests. I feel like I am playing a single player themepark modern mmo.

So it takes like 8-10 hours to get out and into the world. Once that happens the game opens up, and becomes a single player sandbox mmo.

Up late at night, still grinding away.

After exploring a little bit of the world. I have finally figured out what the story is.

    Plot/Story spoilers

    Spoiler: show
First, you die, you get revived, you fight in the north, and resemble "Wolves". You are the illegitimate son, of the Lord of the North. You get guided by a white crow and end up getting a Black Crow flight ability. This is litterly the John Snow plotline in GOT.

The first boss you end up fighting looks like King Geoffry with a Lannister pin..lol

The writing in this game is truly awful, it's quite impressive

The voice actors are putting on a pretty good performance but man the dialogue is so goddamn bad.

Devs pulled an E33 and left ai slop art in the game. Pretty much in the same way that some paintings in the background weren't swapped out.

Any other BGers input on the game? I've kept an eye on it but I'm guessing it's not my kinda game in the end. Reviews cover such a wide gamut, it's either an unplayable mess that is embarrassing to have been released in such a state or it's the greatest achievement ever in open world games, there doesn't seem to be many in-between takes. I'm guessing it's a technical/graphical marvel with brilliance and potential showing through, but the package as is only really works if open world sandbox is your jam?

If I had to describe this game, it would be like red dead redemption 2 crossed with Ultima online.
