Keep duplicates of weapons you want to use so you can refine the duplicates into your main weapon at least to L4; going higher starts to take pretty rare resources and cost abyss cells which you'll want to use for improving skills instead. Harder to do with armor aside from shields. Most normal stuff you find on the ground pales compared to making money via other activities, so sell everything or donate to your camp of you want to, though you'll make so much more currency via their missions vs any amount you can donate. Stealing small copper sacks and such are good for increasing rep with various merchants, as most will upgrade their shops. You can also supposedly get gifts from them but I've not had that happen yet, even though I've about a dozen I've gotten to 100 trust. Also, aside from certain unique gear's specific skills, all weapons and armor are pretty much identical if you can refine them, so it's more about what looks good, though the later game gear can take a pretty silver.

Ingredients for cooking are good to stock up on so you can make a lot of food, but there's plenty to also just buy straight up if you wanted, but that takes a lot of running round. The only really worthwhile shop items the ones with abyss cells in them, but you have to have at least 100 trust and past a certain point in the story, I think. They respawn every 7 in-game days and the cells are used to make the highest tier abyss cells once you unlock that crafting. The first weapon shop in the beginning town is one such vendor.

In other news, legendary white horse get at stamina L7. Wasn't really that hard as long as it didn't try to go next to trees, which blocked my view. Gotta ride like the wind to have level 5 skills again.

Every mission with him is "bro I got drunk and fucked everything up" and then every time you get to where the mission is happening he nopes out to go get hammered drunk again and make you clean up another mess.

Like damn, actually make him take responsibility for his actions just once y'all

Yup, i wouldn't mind it as much if he had at least 1 redeemable feature or as you said he actually took responsibility for once but as of at least the start of chapter 7 and 63 hours played thats a negative on all counts.

Just came across the original settlement from the beginning of the game and here I thought we had traveled far from our land when we were sent into the river. No, we drifted less than a mile before we were fished out.

The amount of random mundane things I've had to google for this game because it just never bothers to teach you about an ability or mechanic is crazy.

Especially with some of the stuff in the abyss where a puzzle requires a specific ability to be unlocked but the game never actually tells you and somehow just expects you to know how to work a mechanic never before introduced or explained.

I assume I am good to sell/toss any items where the knowledge has been acquired?

so the consensus is the aesthetics slap and it's an engaging open world action-RPG with fun if opaque systems atop a garbo story not worth caring about ya

I wouldn't really call it an RPG (and I think the developers have said as much) but yes.

They tossed RDR, BOTW, and Just Cause into a pot and gave it a shiny fantasy garnish. Graphics are generally really good, but they are very very aggressively optimized so it leads to some glitches and general oddities that you definitely won't be able to ignore.

Some other bullet points on it

    - Spectacular sense of discovery and exploration (partially because the game doesn't explain shit)

    - Pretty good puzzles in the abyss segment (and again because the game doesn't explain shit, you're often free to try to solve them however you see fit)

    - I truly don't know if they ever play tested a single boss fight in this game. The difficulty for them is all over the place and you'll randomly get into boss fights where the boss has a completely unexplained one shot mechanic that may or may not require unlocking some ability you've never used before and the game gives you no hints about it

I donate them to vendors for trust.

Speaking of the trust, I've not seen any vendor or NPC "give" me any items, though I have seen their shop inventory update. Is there something I have to do once I get to 100 Trust, or is it later in the game (just started Chapter 5)?

If you get a vendor to 100 trust you get an item that lets you access their items from base camp.

Animals to 100 trust lets you make them pets that you can summon

    That's what I thought; I guess I'll eventually try a random NPC.

New patch dropped that allows hiding helmets, option to go back to the original control for sprinting, and one of the most important: private storage up to 1K depending on camp level. They increase the stack size to something reasonable and I can drop Fat Stacks mod.
