That’s a power move, it’s his class now.

Back in high school we had to do these big ass projects in our senior year, which included a 10 page essay. Not only did I make up references for my bibliography but I ran out of material halfway thru and just copy pasted the first 5 pages to reach 10.

    Still got an A

Maybe one of you teachers can answer, but is there a reason an essay will have to be “x” number of pages? I always felt like it was arbitrary if I could get my point across in less.

generally speaking it’s to make sure there is enough research and development done to support the argument. generally speaking, an introductory level paper should have an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion; a well developed body paragraph with proper citation should run close to a page.

for grad school i had to write 15-25 page papers, varied from one professor to another; generally speaking i would run short but knew my papers were solid, professors were fine with it. ive always been a strong writer though

my senior year was 97-98, it was understandable for papers to be handwritten if you didn’t have access to a computer at home at that point

i had a computer at home, but it was for playing doom, not nerd shit!

    Makes sense, was curious.

I remember typing stuff up on early 90s computers and then printing it on that terrible printer with the paper that was stacked and perforated on the edges.

I don't remember ever owning one of those printers, but it's possible we had one when I was very young. I just remember them at school.

i think we had that printer, wasn’t the paper like slightly tinted green around the edges also (or line by line?)

These were never strictly enforced, as far as I know. If you could complete the assignment, and check off everything you needed to cover in less than the total pages the teacher assigned, then more power to you.

Favorite paper I wrote in college was for an upper division Japanese Pop Culture class. Discussed the line between robot and human using Xenosaga as my primary reference point with asides to Ghost in the Shell and maybe one other anime/video game/manga. Course was fun... except for watching Grave of the Fireflies. That film is never fun.

Other best course I took was Sports in American Society. Focused a week or two on money in sports and focused on the NCAA, Nike, and on the number of stupid NCAA violations there are. Also tackled how stupid parents are for youth sports. The professor for that course worked with a local youth basketball league to implement silent Saturdays whereby a parent would be kicked out of the gym if they did any more than clap. The kids wanted that rule enforced every day of the week.

I have a computer at work that still uses a dot matrix printer, but you can't buy that shit anymore so we have to hand feed it every time we need to print something.

My longest paper was a 35-pager on special problems with legal ethics, I think most other essay assignments in law school were about 20 pages or so.

Once in undergrad I was taking a course where we had 2 months to create a costume design for a show. I chose Rent, never saw the show, never did the assignment, day it was due I skipped class and printed out a bunch of generic pictures of clothes and taped them to papers labeled with the characters names which I had looked up online. Arrived as class was letting out and slid my binder in with the rest. B+.

Doordash changed their policy yet again. Now we see a total that includes up to the first $5.50 of the tip. So it now goes base pay (which we don't see the breakdown until after the delivery, but starts at $2.00) + 5.50 + peak/busy pay. Trip was a bit long distance so was showing a minimum of 14.50 so I rolled the dice. Turns out the base pay was jacked to about 7 bucks due to people rejecting it so much.

Oh well, still made $535 this week for about 20 hours of putzing around, catching up on Madalorian and browsing reddit, so I can't complain too much. Sadly, and it's partly their culture but customers of Indian decent are notoriously fucking cheap. Even when I worked at Fry's those fuckers would try to haggle.
