I prefer cash tip, but here's the thing. All of the delivery apps (Grub Hub, DoorDash, Postmates, etc) pay so little, that the tip is dependent on making the order worthwhile. For example, DD at it's cheapest for a short delivery 1 or 2 items will only pay $2.00. So if there's no tip attached, that's all we see. And very rarely do people tip cash, so you're rolling the dice if they are in that 10-20% that will toss you a five or ten spot to make that delivery worthwhile. No joke, I've walked into Chipolte on multiple occasions at dinner time, with bags of food from lunch time orders (talking 5-6 hours earlier) that were never picked up as delivery people can't bank on a cash tip to make it worthwhile. Due to this, the owner of Doordash, Tony Zhu is now referred to as Two Dollar Tony.

Here's an example. I'm pretty sure due to the weather at the time there was a 1.50 peak pay attached to that as well. Who the fuck is going to drive 7 miles and spend about thirty minutes total for $3.50?

Doordash changed their policy yet again. Now we see a total that includes up to the first $5.50 of the tip. So it now goes base pay (which we don't see the breakdown until after the delivery, but starts at $2.00) + 5.50 + peak/busy pay. Trip was a bit long distance so was showing a minimum of 14.50 so I rolled the dice. Turns out the base pay was jacked to about 7 bucks due to people rejecting it so much.

Oh well, still made $535 this week for about 20 hours of putzing around, catching up on Madalorian and browsing reddit, so I can't complain too much. Sadly, and it's partly their culture but customers of Indian decent are notoriously fucking cheap. Even when I worked at Fry's those fuckers would try to haggle.

I'd say middle class people. Worst by far are Indians, and it's more culture thing then anything else. Anything above a five dollar tip from them is black astronaut unicorn level type stuff. Next worse i'd say is the "super wealthy". The ones living in the multi million dollar homes in gated communities, where you can tell both parents are making six figures each and still living paycheck to paycheck cause they got to front how wealthy they are. Typically you don't see too many poor people or starving college students using doordash unless they are desperate or got gift cards or shit as they mark up the price of the food. A typical order for me from Cheesesteak Shop is normally 16 after tax. With a 5 dollar tip on Doordash it's 28 after their fee's and markup.

I will say though the ones who barely tip or don't tip at all are also the most problematic customers. Almost like clockwork, the second the slightest thing is off or wrong, they go full blown super karen mode and bitch up a storm. I had one freak out because she put in the driver instructions to ask for extra ranch. Well 1. That place charges for ranch, and 2. We don't see driver instructions until we are on our way. That's supposed to be for gate codes or instructions if you live in a complicated apartment complex, etc. Not for fucking food requests. So of course I got the whole I'm going to call doordash and have them fire you speech.

Doordash is fine. Don't ever do uber. They've killed the rates so badly now, it's not even worth it. Doordash through cherry picking, I can maintain well over a dollar a mile pay. Uber, rates depending on where you live and if you're renting a car to drive or supplying your own vary from .25 a mile to .75 a mile before any possible surge. I'd rather try to go ten rounds in a handicap match against a prime Mike Tyson and Bruce Lee then drive for Uber again.

Maybe one of you teachers can answer, but is there a reason an essay will have to be “x” number of pages? I always felt like it was arbitrary if I could get my point across in less.

My masters was 20 pages long. The remaining 100 pages were jpgs and data. Throughout the course, I never turned in anything more than 5 pages long. They ought to teach people to be concise. Limits should be maximums not minimums.

iirc from my undergrad GE requirements, the university wanted "x" pages of written work do be done in approved courses. So each course defaulted to a page quota per course that probably was seldom followed because what TA/Professor would read all that useless padding when papers half the length would be good enough to support a thesis.
