(We constantly reference it, which means we constantly teach it, which means we can constantly reference it, etc.).

I learned more about various mythology from video games than I did in school.

Because the ship they are referencing is Theseus’ ship from Greek Mythology.

I don’t teach the thought experiment in 9th grade, but I do explain him and depending on time, many kids have read about him in Edith Hamilton’s book.

If you notice in Vision’s speech he explains what the thought experiment is, but he does not explain who Theseus is. Kids who read the story will understand who he’s referring to and that Theseus is someone from thousands of years ago.

I don’t know much about the thought experiment myself, but it originated from Ancient Greek Philosophers as is. I like to remind students so many things we use today go back to Ancient Greece and this is just another example of it.

I don’t understand your focus on the ship, so I dunno how to answer your question. I was talking about kids who read it knowing who Theseus is when Vision brings it up. I never said ship in my initial post you quoted.

Also I wasn’t implying you didn’t know who Theseus is, I am implying Visions speech was written with the assumption many viewers WOULD know who Theseus is, but not know what the thought experiment was.

Happened to me when I was a teenager, this hot eastern european chick asked for my phone number and wanted to hang out and my dumb ass was like "what?" because I was shocked she was talking to me. After a few times of me not getting it she was like "never mind".
