The definition of empathy in action.
The definition of empathy in action.
Sometimes you need someone to shit on some noobs, tell a fart joke, or write your name on their thigh to show you things will be OK and that your late parents are still looking down on you smiling.
Robin Williams was beloved and seen as the face of happiness for millions then he kills himself after suffering from depression. If you can be that well known and beloved and still want to end it all then maybe me as an average person isn't alone. It also reduces the stigma of whatever they're open about.
It gets weird when people joke about or demonize others for sharing videos of them legitamitely crying or being emotional online. Then when someone in their life has a full breakdown, they're shocked or wonder why that person wouldn't come to them for support. Well they heard how you shit on others and made mental notes never to trust you with their problems.
I said I worked retail for 8 years, and y'all stanned the guy who tried to dunk on me for that fact. You're no saint.
Was it because you worked retail or because you were being loud, wrong and obnoxious about something. It was definitely the latter
ITT, judgmental people telling each other to stop being so judgmental because in their judgmental opinion they're terrible.
Robin Williams didn't just have depression, he had Lewy Body Dementia.
I guess I’ll just count myself fortunate that I’ve never found myself in that kind of head space
the notion connecting with a song or a youtuber etc will 'save' someone from clinical depression or what have you is basically bullshit. people get the blues, that type of connection can make real suffering easier, but life-threatening mental illness? nah man life ain't a Hallmark movie. takes year of dedicated and exhausting effort to piece yourself back together after you fall apart, and in my own experience and the experience of those around me it never came down to a song. hell it never comes down to just one moment at all. folk try to pattern reality after big movie moments but that ain't how real and not trendily palatable mental illness works.
there's a reason the addicts speak of a rock bottom that initiates the slog towards sobriety not the T Swift song that saved them
The fuck? Words of a song can be life saving whether direct or placebo.
Not all therapy is 12 weeks of talking. Sometimes removing one kink can give someone insight. It's not total bullshit.
It often is though.
Saving and curing depression aren't even near the same thing.
100 gecs and coke saved me.
sometimes i hear a song or read a forum post and want to kill myself so really media has a bigger impact than you would think
