I offer no defense but nor do I express remorse.

Got into an argument with the wifey because her shitty brothers are pathetic. Most of my immediate family is just as pathetic but that’s neither here nor there because apparently my attitude is different.
I feel bad because in the midst of the argument I flat out said “I don’t need anyone’s help. Most definitely not your family’s. I need all of you to just get the fuck out my way!” Context being all they do is try to leech under the pretense they’d help with house chores and shit. I feel bad because I try hard not to point out certain things.
I’m used to it with my 57 siblings, but her 2 brothers she holds dear. Mind you this is the same brother who lived with us for a short while and caused nothing but strife.
I guess what I’m saying is she’s batting hard for her brother to live with us again. And I’m 100% against it.
She understands my reasoning, but she’s super forgiving and wanting to wipe the slate clean. Her older sister who lives in the same area completely supports it too.
I just can’t. Had I known I’d deal with this shitbag constantly who got kicked out of basic I would’ve chosen Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn PCS years ago when I had the choice.
Also context, same dipshit who threatened to kill himself and brought a gun unbeknownst to everyone in a house where there were 3 minors. Thus the wifey’s older sister’s hesitance to take responsibility back in her own home.
Idfk. Felt like BG the only place where I can release this frustration on to. I’m even offering paying for an apartment nearby for the douchebag.
It’s still enabling his ass but at least I don’t have to fucking look at him or have his pathetic ass near my son.
I'm sure you've already brought it up, but if the sister won't let him live there because of concern for her kids why is not that a valid reason for your own house?
I think if you're paying for him to be elsewhere that's the end of discussion right there. There's no reasonable argument for bringing him into the home at that point.

This gun safety PSA is brutal but effective imo, one of the best ever made
What's wrong with the guy that he can't get a job? I mean I'm not one to talk, I've been without full time employment for over a year, but I still find contract stuff I can use to make money.

Southeast Asian family. Matriarch is a refugee of the Khmer Rouge. There’s more feelings to it that’d be more than a few forum posts, but this is why I feel like I need to give them a pass sometimes.
It's tough kid but it's life

Stand your ground. Boundaries are incredibly important in situations like this and family often knows how to push buttons harder if needed - especially if they don't like you and know it will cause issues with your spouse.
Nah, if the kids safety are involved than that's a hard no. Especially if you're offering to pay for an apartment, which let's be honest you shouldn't need to do.
Get a fucking job somewhere and make it work, and ask your brother in law for money every now and then like a normal bum.

We pay my in-laws some cash each month because lots of reasons (mostly love and to help out) but we also cut out like 30-40% of my wife's family when her grandma died at my insistence. Basically by my refusal to allow them on our property or contact anyone I know. They're leeching pieces of shit. My dad grew up and got out of a similar situation with his brothers and sisters largely being fuckin useless and grubby except for 2. After watching that shit play out and helping shepherd my in-laws through trusts/inheritance stuff getting hit up every morning by relatives, I am fully inured to emotional arguments. Factos is factos and I don't care that your fucking ex took the kids or that your son can't get off of oxy. I am not a piggybank nor a halfway house.
I sympathize with your situation homie. It's fuckin hard to say no when its family but I can also tell you that it usually gets about ten times easier after you hold your line for 6 months.
There's giving people a pass and then giving people license to continue. It's real hard to tell the difference honestly.
gluck with figuring it out dude, it is awful.
