I wasn’t sure what anyone else in the company was going to send (it turns out most people sent 1 idea or a couple of paragraphs), well, I sent in a couple of pages worth of ideas. I got a reply back from my CEO saying “Wow! Thanks for all of these ideas!”
Fast forward a couple of days and he sends out in a company wide email the compilation of ideas he received and he included every single one of my ideas, but he inserted some of his thoughts on each one that were things like “GREAT IDEA”, “EASY TO FIND SPONSOR”, “MONEY IDEA $$$”; he didn’t include these comments on anyone else’s suggestion. At the end he singled me out by name (in a company wide email, not just to my market) and said we need more ideas like mine and was dumbfounded why I (someone who is not in sales) could come up with these ideas but his sales staff could not.
So while it was kind of nice to get a pat on the back from the CEO now I have my entire company’s sales force very upset with me.
