You don't have to agree with it.

I'm not arguing the micro, just the macro. That Democrats are not morally superior simply because they're Democrats. That's a ridiculous view.

If someone is a cop does that mean they're good people? If they're a member of their kid's PTO does that mean they're a great parent?

They're still people. They can still be corrupt.

It'd be fantastic if things were black and white, good and bad, and we could automatically assume people's intentions simply because of their affiliations. But this is real life. It doesn't work that way.

So I wholeheartedly disagree with the sentiment that Democrats wouldn't be just as corrupt in the same situation based on the fact we have historical proof that they're willing to side step their morals to support a party member.

The degree to which they would do so is where we disagree, and I don't see a middle ground between us here as we're both very firm in our beliefs.

You're trying to equate the two because they both "do wrong things" and "would do wrong things given the chance" but fail to see both the difference in accountability and difference in how the public has benefitted or been harmed as a result.

I think lying is bad, but I don't think a person that lie's should lose their job.

I think bribing a foreign government to interfere with our elections is bad. I think if you do so, you should lose your job.

So let's find what is between those two things that we both think the person should lose their job. Unless you think bribing a foreign government to keep you in power isn't bad enough to lose one's job. If you do think this, at what point could this president lose their job? What would he have to do, where is your line?

I really feel like living in the south for a large chunk of my life has given me an auto-fuck-any-politician mentality and perhaps it's skewed my perspective. The shit that gets debated here...

But, at the same time, stepping back to think objectively I see exactly what you guys mean. I've literally heard people say they could give a rat's ass what the president does as long as their paycheck is fat. That's proof enough of what's being described here.

Bob Menendez is corrupt as fuck. A two term well known senator had to fight off a tough primary challenge to a fucking no-name newspaper publisher who didn't even run a legit campaign. He gets a legit challenger, he's gone.

So yes, there are corrupt democrats. And they get nailed to the wall often. Much more often than generic republican candidate. Just look at the behavior of GOP congressional members. Liberals and conservatives have different standards they hold their elected officials to. Ignoring that is simply ignoring facts.
