Allowing unchecked presidential power and corruption would have been much much more expensive than an impeachment. This was far and away cheaper than letting Trump get away with whatever he wanted. To call it a waste of money is short sighted.

It's not about just Trump. It's about future administrations and setting expectations for presidential behavior.

Well for starters, they should have let the subpoena stuff play out in court to get some witnesses into the house under oath as everyone with half a brain cell knew the republicans would never allow witnesses. That would have had the added effect of keeping obstruction of congress fresh in the voters minds once the debates hit. But in typical fashion, impatience won, democrats blew their load early, and we have what happened today. But it's good to see you're accepting for how you're behaving. If you decide to grow up and show you deserve a seat at the big boy table, maybe people would be willing to actually talk to you as an adult in the future.
