Trump has asked congress for $2.5B to help fight the coronavirus. $1.25B of it would be fresh funding while the rest would be pulled from existing healthcare programs including $535M used for fighting ebola.

The funding request will include at least $1 billion for vaccine development, an official said.

Democrats called for additional funding weeks ago, but the administration only moved forward with that request on Monday.

Trump wants to invite Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder to the White House for a visit because he found their boxing match so entertaining. This isn’t out of the realm of things presidents sometimes do. But if you aren’t familiar with Tyson Fury, he has quite a history of saying very homophobic, racist, and misogynistic things. So, also not out of the realm for Trump I suppose.

Has Trump suffered any kind of “loss” of consequence in his presidency? He has had personal win after personal win consistently getting his way. He got his SC nomination. He avoided conviction in his impeachment trial. He killed an Iranian general on foreign soil and Iran backed off after some small “retaliation”. It really is quite frustrating how, pardon the reference, ‘ole Donnie wiggles his way out of every situation.

The closest thing I can think of was the government shutdown in early 2019 being pretty squarely blamed on him. But people have short memories and that seems a lifetime ago except for those who were directly impacted.

The below is from my friend's wife's FB. I don't really know her but did know she puts her biz on social media a bit. We're supposed to go bowling with them on Saturday and I need to think of some ways to dodge discussing anything politics.

I hear you. I'm very excited to be starting a career in real estate because I'm not going to have to be inside four walls for 8-10 hours a day where I can't escape stuff like that (or similarly bad stuff).

I sort of wish I could talk with people in person about some of this stuff just so I could learn. For instance I'd like to hear from people their take on socialism because we know media and hardcore R's like to make it sound like we're heading for Nazi USA or something. For kicks I google searched "are you a R or D" and did some test to see where my ideals fall. It basically said I'm neither and somewhere in the middle. I think it would be cool to speak with people of both sides to learn. Unfortunately I haven't met someone in person who can separate themselves from party just to talk ideas, pros and cons, etc.

You just need to find somebody who is interested in talking about ideas, it's a common enough trait. Doesn't matter what political persuasion they are, you will have a worthwhile engagement.

Here is something to think about; I think it boils down to what to do with people on the bottom of the social/economic hierarchy. Rs tend to go with "Pull yourself by your bootstraps" which isn't true for all cases, for example somebody born with mental conditions is just not capable of doing anything productive in our increasingly complex society. Ds tend to, shit I don't even know anymore tbh, it used to be measured support the disenfranchised but it seems recently it's more like "Get rid of hierarchies all together" ..That's the 1000 ft view at least. Socialism gets a bad rap because, well, several reasons. There was extensive propagana campaign in US in the 50s against socialism which stuck around, socialism is tied to some of the worst human atrocities in the 20th century, and it because the people who claim "Hierachies need to go away" tend to support socialism and nobody likes those people.

Heirarchies will never go away. Social classes will always exist, because the natural tendency of all living beings is to create it.

I think largely the issue right now is the distance between them needs to be narrowed because the difference between each tier is ridiculously large in a way that is embarrassing in 2020.
