If I'm not mistaken, the OWL hero pool and hero pool in the actual game are different.
Oh wow wtf somehow that's even worse
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Not really. OWL's picks are weighted based on what the players are using whereas regular Overwatch is random.
At a minimum, usage rates in OWL meta and the various levels of regular Overwatch are very different. I guess they could do a weighted system with regular Overwatch as well, but random is probably just as good given that most Overwatch players don't actually play the meta.
Does anyone know if hero bans are going to be a thing during the playoffs? I'm already not a huge fan of them, but if they're in play during the playoffs, that seems really dumb. It'd be like if the NBA drew from a hat and eliminated three pointers for game 7 of the finals.
Also, if they stick to the format where they're randomly drawn from the most used heroes of the previous week, the pool of heroes being used is going to shrink with each round and you're going to be ruling out some players' best heroes at the most important part of the season.
Theres enough heroes, and only 1 or 2 are banned at a time per class, that this isnt a problem if you arent a one-trick.
Bans as a thing suck, but if two characters are banned and now you have no one you can play, then you kinda suck lol

It isn't about being a one-trick. If the playoffs are supposed to be where the two best teams compete to prove which is the best and when the Overwatch League puts out its best product, whether one player's main was banned or not should not be a factor.
Also, hasn't it been less than a week since you complained about not being able to play Brig (when she wasn't even banned in regular Overwatch..)?
Oh dont confuse terrible game design with playing a terrible game you enjoy once in awhile.
Banning brig because a cat touched the brig card while walking around a bedroom is a stupid as fuck way to run your game.
But whether one character is banned or not in the competitive scene shouldnt matter if the game is properly balanced and people understand this mechanic going into the competition. I see it as no different than bans in MOBAs, and I'd actually be okay with it if both teams picked bans before a match started, instead of a cat picking bans over a twitch stream.
As it stands now, bans are picked in a stupid manner in OWL, and bans in normal comp suck cause they do stupid shit like ban two healers in one week when theres less than half as many healers as dps, or introduce a new dps character when tank/support charactere combined dont total higher than dps characters.

https://kotaku.com/overwatch-mvps-mi...snt-1843159753Jay “Sinatraa” Won isn’t just any Overwatch League player. After a stellar 2019 in which his team, the San Francisco Shock, took home championship gold, he was declared the league’s MVP. This means that the game’s developers at Blizzard will release an in-game skin to commemorate his exploits. Yesterday, during the middle of season three, Won announced that he’s retiring from Overwatch.
The entire Vancouver Titans roster was released upon mutual agreement with the players. Primary underlying issue was the players were playing from Korea and making a commitment to fans in the Pacific West division while trying to transfer to the Pacific Asia division.
