I have found the key to enjoying Tekken 8 is to truly embrace being a degenerate and heavily exploit the game's massive lean into offense.
i.e. playing Alisa
Chainsaw go BRRRRRRRRRRRR

Its what the devs literally wanted. They hated seeing Tekken 7 at Evo being a dance contest between two players for 3 hours. For better or worse, they didn't want a repeat of that.
They're buffing defensive options with the patch next month along with balance changes to the half of the cast they didn't touch last week.
Aside, this

Pakistani Tekken tournaments just hit so hard.
That said, I'm looking forward to both Season 2's. The retention of throw-loops aside, the buffs and nerfs I'm seeing I largely agree with, especially the Honda changes. Getting rid of scrub and anti-beginner tactics and rewarding high-level knowledge and play should make things very enjoyable to at least spectate.
I'll never understand the hate for throw loops. People have serious brainrot after sfv not getting oki after a throw is not normal in most games.
My issue with throws loops is mostly with the characters that have meterless throw loop options that absolutely don't need it to be viable, like Luke/Deejay/Blanka. Remove that and they're still completely viable characters who become way less oppressive in the corner.
Juri can keep it because her damage output is generally lower than those other 3 so it balances out her corner pressure.
Man if the highlight of Gief's balance changes are the ground bounce off his crHP punish counter... oof.
For real though, for a hype video designed to show off the cool shit and we get a clip Deejay's SA1 now being -20 on block instead of -24 or a Juri target combo no one has ever used in their life being super cancellable, I don't have high hopes.
A video like this isn't going to show the nerfs but waiting an entire year for meaningful balance adjustments and stuff like this is the "highlights" is oof
the game isnt terribly unbalanced tho, idk why ppl were expecting theyd reinvent the wheel
AKI’s 3rd alt looks like a Cowboy Bebop character. Shit is pretty damn dope.

What they've shown so far isn't going to do anything to change up the meta, which should absolutely be the point if we're being limited to one major balance a year explicitly set between Capcom Cup seasons.
I'd rather not spend another entire year of watching the same characters dominate tournament play and online.
The balance can be what it is, but it needs to change more than ONCE PER YEAR. SF6 was stale as 6-year-old bread because they kept the same goddamn patch for a solid year, barring the tiniest of adjustments. This isn't 1999 anymore. That shit is old hat with the 500 games that come out these days.
I don't want to see another "Chun/Ken/Yun" game for 30 years. They had a pass back in the day because "balance patches" only came out when new arcade boards were made. There is no excuse today.
You don't have to go full NRS but Capcom deciding stuff like Luke's crMP was just cool to leave untouched for basically an entire year is stupid.
You don't even need Tekken's patch cycle. 1 major patch and 2 micro-patches to remove troublesome things or give an emergency buff is fine.
They have been doing micro-patches though to fix small bugs and adjust a minor amount of characters. It's just that they don't patch the things people bitch about which changes month to month. Blanka is the new whipping boy even though only Problem X and Mena are the only two getting decent results with him.
JP took the heat off of Blanka for 8 months that's why he's been flying below the radar.
I think how they are patching is fine tbh. Let players figure out how to deal with shit and then the devs can figure out if system changes are needed or just frame/balance adjustments based on the meta and low level gameplay. I'm just reminded of how Sentinel in MvC3 was scrub bombing people in the first couple months of release and people were whining about it, loudly. Then when people actually figured out how to fight him a couple months later, Capcom went with a balance adjustment that deleted the character from existence
Except people still used Sentinel (and won Evo with him) through the entirety of the game's existence.
