I’m trying to make sense what even makes it an infinite. Is it the weird recovery that’s Sentinel exclusive?

I think it has to do with the height you start the combo at (think Iron Man infinite in 2), and then obviously taking advantage of Sentinel's gigantic hurtbox.

So uh this shit is super still in development.

What is the fucking point why are you even doing this beta when the game clearly isn't ready for it.

Ok so I'm in the Tokon Beta and I wanna clear up a couple of things. First those session times are wrong or at least misleading, the beta is up all weekend I think that's just the points where invites go out, cause I got my invite at 2 AM PDT last night. Second despite the fact that people were saying there aren't many people getting invited, there are at least 50k people online his morning probably more. Third the NDA thing is the Playstation Policy for the all their beta programs and has nothing to do with ASW. It also seems to be very similar to the version that was at evo but seems to have a few changes.
Finally got my hands on one of these and yeah Qanba sets the standard again.

it’s been awhile since I actively played fighting games, is the layout of that hitbox as listed standard? like I’ve always used a fight stick so it hasn’t come up, but the up key being near the bottom between L3 and R3 seems odd to me, and yeah I would assume you can just remap it but I’m trying to understand the vanilla layout
The logic in the default hitbox layout is a different finger dedicated to every direction, and using the thumb for up since the pinkie finger is weak
Personally I prefer WASD layout. It's not mechanically as ideal since you're using the middle finger for both up and down, but it just feels better and either can work just fine. Leshar notably has godlike execution and uses a reverse WASD layout
thanks for the explanations, looking at it now yeah I can see using the thumb on my right hand for the Up arrow, would take a bit of time to get used to but the leverless boxes have always seemed cool to me, and I can see it being way more precise then a stick if you got good enough with it.The default layout for leverless is pretty standardized at this point yeah. Not all layouts have more than the basic 8 buttons you find on an arcade stick but the sapphire is completely mappable like you said.
Up being on the thumb at the bottom also is pretty intuitive for people coming into fighting games from other genres. The button is where the space bar is on a keyboard and the space bar is jump in a ton of modern games. Also I love having easy access to it on either thumb.

I do not like the up on the thumb layout for 3d fighters or a character like Goldlewis.
For someone exclusively playing 2d fighters it's great though. I also don't think any serious top end players in 3d fighters like Tekken or Virtua Fighter use leverless, those games are honestly harder on a leverless compared to a stick or pad.
I remember doing Korean back dash on the original hitbox back in Tekken 7 shit was atrocious on player 1 side because it meant alternating between middle and ring which gets uncomfortable real fast.

The UmvC3 random select tourney they did in the past was a beautiful disaster, high hopes for this one
some lucky mofo is gonna roll Sentinel Magneto and Storm in the grand finals of that tournament and it will be amazing
If they run it like they did the UMvC3 one, it's random select every single round.
ahh ok that’s much better, didn’t watch the UMvC3 one they did, but if it’s rerolling every round that might be pretty fun to watch.
It was pure chaos and so funny to watch.
I'll never understand the mind of someone who can roll random select in a traditional game let alone Marvel.
