A lotta the NYC dudes were dope as hell people and I hung out with some of them but a lot of them really had no ambition in life for their own individual reasons. Shit's a shame because a lot of them are smart dudes, just no drive.

Which I mean in all honesty... does that fundamentally change anything? If it's a block and punish kind of situation, you'd be able to buffer in the input so that shouldn't really make a difference in being able to get the input out a little faster, and a whiff punish would still require you to visually identify the whiff and input a command, where like 99% of whiff punishes are just normals.

If you were using macros for an instant super well then yeah it's whack, but macros aren't allowed in tournaments so...

Oh. It says in his bio he's a "19+year Pro Gamer" and he had a clan tag so I thought he was on a pro team or sponsored or something. I don't know anyone could consider it cheating when its just buttons with the same inputs, its not like its programming macros and I'm sure we've had discussion on arcade sticks/pro peripherals forever.

But even then its still stupid because what exactly is the barrier we are talking? A thousand dollars for a decent rig + hitbox? As opposed to the 600 dollars it would have cost for a console + fightstick?

I don't want to sound elitists' or out of touch but as far as competitive hobbies as concerned that doesnt sound like much for something you have to invest thousands of hours in to be a pro?

Most of them will tell you that playing full-time at like 240hz on PC and then going to tournaments that have 30-60hz console versions of games is a net negative. The difference in timing is major in most FGs.

Tournament standard hasn't changed much throughout the years. All the shit Art is pushing is great but that only really affects staying competitive with online tournaments. Most offline tournaments are still going to be on console and not any of the higher Hz monitors. Like, don't train for a Tennis match when you're gonna be playing Ping Pong. It's the same shit OGs had to do when Evo switched to console. Arcade timings weren't always 1 to 1 with the console versions so if you wanted to be competitive, you practiced on console.
