You're right. We should completely ignore any running stats. You know the thing that made him lethal and a nightmare to game plan for. The thing he did better than anyone prior. He didn't just break those records, he shattered them.

cam newton broke the record for rushing tds by a qb, sure. does that make him the best rusher?

Cunningham, mcnabb, and Vick all had higher y/a, and that’s just me being a homer and not looking up other qbs. his stats are very mcnabbish at a cursory glance and I think that’s a pretty good career comp overall, including a super bowl loss resulting in memes

TD : INT 182-108. Ya. 58 rushing TDs isn't something to scoff at. No one has ever done it.

If he has a few more productive seasons, he should be in.

At this moment I'd put it at about 10% chance if he has a few blah seasons of stat padding.

We really haven't. God damn, lol. Every coach in the league would say that. The mix of size and athleticism was unheard of for a QB.

anyway before i pretend to fall asleep what a weird stat

in the playoffs, donovan mcnabb has 72 carries for 4 tds and 30 first downs, with a long of 41 yards

in the playoffs, cam newton has 63 carries for 2 tds...and no other runs that resulted in first downs, with a long of 14 yards. actually kind of surprised at that

Even with his rushing TDs he doesn't have as many passing+rushing as McNabb.
