    2019 dak: 65.1% comp, 4,902 yards, 30 tds, 5.0 td%, 7 ints, 1.8 int%, 2 fumbles, 8.4 average depth of target, 306.4 yards per game, 68 successful 20+ yard passes, 16 successful 40+ yard passes, 23 sacks

there is exactly one metric 2017 wentz was superior over 2019 dak, touchdown percentage per pass, which is a special teams and defensive stat more than it is an offensive stat. the less passes you require to get a touchdown means you're simply getting shorter field on the year. especially since dak was the one consistently throwing down the field further in every category by a wide margin

their turnover (int & fumble) percentage was identical and dak had superior numbers in literally every other category

“there is exactly one stat wentz was better in”

literally has 4 stats listed, and the numbers are for wentz playing 13 games

also since you care about wins, the eagles won 11 of the 13 games wentz played in 2017

dak had 16 games last year and won how many?

    lol, caveats.

numbers look better with less games played, on average. so to have better stats with more games played means something.

almost every single stat dak was superior on is a percentage based number. it's taking the number of games into account

That was my point. But to have a bigger denominator means something. A lot of people have "good stats" in things if they shrink the sample to a smaller denominator (amount of games). So I was saying playing more games and having a better average means something.

my caveats comment was in response to wentz playing 13 games (less than dak's 16).

I've never seen such defense of an average QB before.

I've always found the QB comparisons, that are specifically about the teams they're on having played each other, like Pats vs Colts (Manning vs. Brady) examples stupid, because like someone else has stated, those QB's never play each other, it's the respective opponents' defense that they're playing against.

The Manning/Brady thing is ridiculous too. There is a reason Bill respects Peyton so much. If you put Peyton on the Pats for 18/19 seasons, with the exact same HOF head coach throughout, he would have almost too many rings for 2 hands. They would have been unstoppable. Same for Marino. No other QB has ever been on Peyton's level as a pure QB.

his average is really only discernably better in passing yards, which resulted in my stafford comparison

completion percentage too, fine, but wentz still threw more tds and most likely would have thrown fewer INTs (adding in fumbles still makes it mostly negligible)

all this while leading the league in QBR and third down conversions, and again, running up to an 11-2 record

dak was good last year but he was not as good as wentz in 2017

I think also, if PRIVS was on the Pats the same time instead of Brady, he'd have a handful or more of rings too.

i mean, even if wentz stays healthy, the eagles probably do next to nothing the last 3 games anyway. they even pulled most of their starters in week 17 that year

    against the cowboys

who beat the eagles backups that year by a whopping score of 6-0

An 11-2 record is a combination of offense, defense, and special teams though. Literally 1 person on the team isn't responsible for their teams record whether good or bad.
