For people in CA, NY, and wherever else that it's in place, how big a deal is the shelter there? For IL, after the press conference yesterday, I was like "that's it?" since it really wasn't a big deal. Non-essentials that weren't already working from home though suggested to do that for a week, yeah. Other than that, it was like shutting down parks and libraries.

CA checking in here. So far we're trying to get ready for the shitstorm. The shelter in place has all schools and non-essential businesses closed, but there's been waaaaay too much traffic here in Fresno for people to be taking it seriously. This is the shit that's going to allow this crap to keep rolling on.

We jumped about 100 cases just today. We've had a hell of a time getting tests. As the tests get distributed the number soars.

I think it's just because we're in such different circumstances.

I'm in an area where it's exploding (increased 35 positive cases in 30min). I'm dealing with the results of NOT initially blanket screening and the fallout. I don't want you in this position amd I think they should be ridiculously safe with it right now so you don't end up here.

We start our statewide lockdown tonight and people are pretty much off the roads here so it's not that bad. All businesses are pretty much closed so the only place people are are at the grocery stores and they are fairly mobbed. I want to say Costco is the only place I've seen social distancing.

As someone in Los Angeles -
For starters, there are a lot less people in cars. But still some traffic around. But Friday rush hour map was EMPTY. I have never seen traffic all green on google maps.

The lines at grocers are still there when they open at around 8am. A lot more people walking around going to the park nearby. Playgrounds are roped off though. People still playing basketball/baseball.

I have been getting offers to do takeout/delivery at restaurants - doing Thai tonight because they offered 10% off.

Los Angeles here. As I've said, I'm off work, as is my family. Before, we didn't really go out much except for groceries and work, or occasionally to hit a retailer to get a thing we need.
My recreation is the computer and video games, hers is television. She is particularly miffed each time Trump preempts The Price is Right.

So nothing has really changed for us besides the time off, and I'm walking to the grocery store on my own to pick things up.
There was a run on our preferred store last Friday, we managed to get 95% our usual shopping then.
But while the store is getting restocked, it's not the whole selection, lots of bare shelves, so I've been going daily first thing in the morning to get bits of what we usually do.
Also been going to other nearby stores to try and get this and that which was missing.

Traffic was it's usual, seemed lighter today, but not sure if lockdown, or just Saturday.

And FUCK all these people at ShopRite and Costco wearing n95s and other masks when there's a shortage.

I've wanted to slap every person wearing a n95 that has a beard as that supposedly renders them useless.

Working the airport post last night inside the terminal , there are way too many people still traveling and talking about vacation..GTFO.

I'm understanding some travel will be deemed necessary to get back home or possibly care for someone , death in family , etc. However when you're purposely bringing your infants and young kids around then freaking out that other people are around or forbid have to cough or sneeze, maybe you're the problem.

I'd say an uptick in people wearing masks has gone from 20 -30% last week to 75-80% now. We are so short handed at work my lucky ass gets stuck at this post tonight for 12 fucking hours. So glad it's my Friday and I'm gone in two weeks lol.

The local FDs/EMS/hospitals have resorted to asking on places like Facebook for people to donate N95s/PPE/etc because theyre out or just about out

Santa Barbara here, biggest difference is lack of traffic and restaurants are doing to-go only.

Gym still open, people are outside hiking constantly, the track is shut down but people keep jumping the fence so they can run it. Lots of people on the beach today. Costco hired 20 walk-ins yesterday about to go by and see if they still mass hiring.

Massive car lines at the student housing since most of them are going back home right now also. I don't actually know a single person quarantining.
