It's been going up by about 1.7x to 2x every 2 days and the confirmed cases have also been doing this. Again, if nothing really changes (like no nationwide lockdown) then it wouldn't surprise me.

Also I think it's especially true if we count deaths due to overcrowding in hospitals. If they are all overcrowded then sucks to be you when something we are used to dealing with happens.

We wont ever know the total because they wont do proper testing and will work hard to classify covid19 deaths as pneumonia or whatever else they can hide numbers behind.

100K+ without more stringent measures. looking over the data and extrapolating what one can from the foreign data sets to which we most closely track and yeah. a thousand deaths a day is going to be sobering for many but i see almost no evidence for thinking it will stop there. reasonable outlook for our plateau would be a September 11th a day.

At least while I'm in Texas, I am in Austin. We are alllllll taking it seriously here and basically everyone is doing their part to social distance the few times I went grocery shopping. It would just be nice of the counties around us did the same....

Also I still think Trump is going to change his tune in 2 weeks or less, but of course by then it will be too late.
