just finished a "coronavirus duty" ER shift. I hate N95s.

Our stores are pretty cleaned out. We are now forced into the almond milk life.
There's cops at our Costco now making sure people only take 1 toilet paper.
Lol Tapatalk sucks![]()
Poland is locking down too. I've seen a lot of photos of empty shelves and people going crazy in bigger stores, thankfully the supermarket near me was still well stocked and not crowded. Nut yeah, the TP craze is insane. You'd think this was some crazy diarrhea inducing virus, lol.
Other than the situation being pretty depressing in general, I'm feeling down even more because I had long overdue holidays planned for the beginning of April. It makes most sense to cancel the whole trip, but unless they extend the lockdown to cover that period (though at the moment it feels very likely they will), I will need to cancel the plane tickets myself and lose 3/4 of what I paid for them
Oh, also the brain hurt caused by religious people over here doesn't help. Everyone was recommending staying at home, quarantine etc. and the Catholic church went all "We need more masses, people need to pray to God, we are the healers of the soul, God's law is more important than Earth law" and theoretically the government had its hands tied because of how Catholic church is protected by various laws here, plus they're pretty much in bed with the Church usually so no one expected them to oppose that, but thankfully they finally did say fuck it, though not completely. Gathering of more than 50 people are forbidden, including in Churches, so the heads of the Church are of course saying again - 'increase the number of masses, make sure you don't have more than 50 people in your church', but it seems the backlash is being very strong and more and more local priests are caving in and saying they will be doing online masses.
We're eating dinner right now. Kroger had no bread, no tp, limited amounts of paper towels (One of the things we were going after!) limited amounts of meat, and no beans or rice (except some rice a roni) at all. It took us 3 stores to get wht we needed, and we got extra pasta since we have been eating a lot of that anyway. Oh and there was almost no cold medicine either!
Anyway we're off to Sam's next after we are done with dinner, gah. Luckily no tp; but we're after meat and some Dial (which is something people are hitting down here) and that's about it. We're hunkering down out here. Luckily thanks to a walmart order that finaly went though and a trip to Food Depot, we got plenty of bread now, tho I'm prepared to pound ruddy you know what out of bread dough. (Don't laugh. Kneading bread can be a real stress reliever and if anyone's curious, I'll find my fav recipe and post it in the food thread. If this fuss keeps up we may all be learning how.)
Also gaming related; if anyone's REALLY bored, I started a new chara on the PSO Ephedera server. Anyone care to join me if you're bored? It's a good community but I wouldn't mind having a *flips the bird at coronovirus* group from here to level and do stuff!
Young with concerning contact or travel CAN get tested.
Most of what I saw today was middle aged (40-60), well appearing people are presenting. Testing those with risk factors for high mortality (namely diabetes, heart disease, respiratory conditions).
Did have some elderly respiratory distress that was consistent with pneumonia. Precautions taken anyway.
According to a letter from his doctor, Trump has tested negative
Sounds like your hospital has testing available, it's plastered all over reddit at least even today that the US doesn't have enough tests and keeps refusing to test people who have concerning history and symptoms. Probably heavily depends where someone is since every state is taking it a different amount of seriously.
I gotta say that looking at China's case stats still has me a bit skeptical. Their shit flatlined right after that PR disaster where they accidentally said how many cases they had and their number of cases jumped by a third in one day.
I think there is a non-0 chance that they are fully faking shit to avoid domestic public outcry and make it look like they have a handle on it.
So no clue yet if this is related to the pandemic or not but I work at Oakland airport and employed by the sheriff's office.
Upon arriving to work was informed by my coworker not to enter through the front door today. There are over a dozen special forces ,swat and other high end sworn staff I have never seen here.
We are also not allowed to certain areas now ( even though we have SIDA clearance to all) and also not allowed to return to the station until our shift ends so yeah..
There has been talks of some stores and businesses closing at the airport and also very faint rumblings of domestic travel ban possible as well. Given what I am seeing here so far today this could be the early stages or preparation.

Just got home from Kroger. They were practically sold out of all meat. Zero hamburger. Lots of other things sold out and of course paper products. We got what we needed and bought some extra beans and ramen. My wife's work has been keeping them up on what's going on thru emails. As of right now her hospital is on lock down and no visitors period. She said nurses are already getting good incentives to work overtime and she won't be surprised if that's extended to others like herself. I think we're going to try and hit up a Meijer at like, 3:30 AM on Tuesday or something to see how their stock is.
My wife loves her sardines and rice (filipino staple I guess) and for kicks we looked on Amazon for them. Just....WOW at prices on canned flipping sardines!
