But here in Chicago we have bars advertising "The parade may be cancelled, but we're still open!" On twitter yesterday I think I saw 3 of the nearby neighborhoods trending because of the lines outside the bars all day (and probably will be the same today). I'm literally surrounded by idiots.

My Kroger restocks on Sunday mornings, so I was actually able to grab quite a few things that have been selling out. Milk, bread, pasta, etc. Bread was slim pickings, but had at least several loafs that'll be gone by noon no doubt. Tons of milk though. Didn't need TP, paper towels, or meat, so I couldn't tell you if they were out.

The new story of the day is apparently trump is trying to get a Germany company to make a vaccine for the US and only the US.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/mobile..../idUSKBN2120IV

“ Welt am Sonntag also quoted an unidentified German government source as saying Trump was trying to secure the scientists' work exclusively, and would do anything to get a vaccine for the United States, "but only for the United States."

I really hope this one actually is fake news.

Yay for passing a bill to help protect the sick, those that have to care for sick family members, and parents who have to care for a child while schools are closed.

Oh wait. What's that? It doesn't cover businesses with more than 500 people? So 54% of the work force gets no protection?

So glad that my wife and I both work for said companies. Seriously they can go fuck themselves with this halfassed shit.

Ours also is restocking today; I hope the people in my area have calmed down b/c there is no coronovirus in Douglas County, tho my sister is understandably concerned. (She's has 'mune problems, and with my other brother having cancer..we got problems.) (I hope the Wal-Mart's restocking too and we have no more problems with grocery orders.)

Since we do not shop on Sunday unless it's a big emergency (And this..ain't. We're just trying to do our normal shopping), we'll try tomorrow. Mind, we are NOT freaking out other than trying to make sure the chest freezer is full and all that, but we'd do that anyway. Also if you guys have Food Depots in your area, check them out. When we went there they still had some meat and milk if you guys need some. Just I think this goes without saying, but don't be greedy BG'ers; get what you need and leave some for other people.

We bought a ton of ground turkey since there was so much still available. People don’t know how versatile it is lol. Can eat that shit for weeks all kinds of ways.

Bry; This is Douglas County, GA I'm usually not specific (I usualy say on boards "somewhere east of Atlanta") but the cases are in Fulton, not here. YET.

It's actually the Repubs that want to exempt small businesses - which after googling is such a broad definition and can be anywhere between "less than 500 employees" to "less than 1500" depending on the industry and the company's annual revenue. Repubs also want to sunset the sick/family medical leave after a year. They were also on the fence waiting for #45's support before voicing an opinion, which this piece passed overwhelmingly bipartisan vote 363-40 after he tweeted his support.

    Reference - https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...-friday-128140

I'll go ahead and drop the political football, but if the Repubs fuck this response up by not doing enough and not doing as Trump said where the full American might will be thrown at COVID, the axe is going to fall on their heads in November.

Haven’t you heard? Incrementalism is the best we can hope for! Maybe by the next public health crisis another 20% of the workforce will be included!

My large grocery store has this sign up. Manager was going through the lines to checkout (backed into the aisles) assuring everyone that there isn't a food shortage, they just can't deliver it fast enough to meet the surge of demand, and they are getting new trucks in daily.

I bought groceries this morning, and the chaos level was a modest 6 or a 7.

No chicken, no bananas, no eggs were the only Ls I took on our list, but many other items were cleaned out or nearly there. People buying all the beef and shit white bread in the store but sleeping on all kinds of beans.

The baby and the doggo are amply stocked and shall not starve, but soon we'll have to go Black Friday '06 on sum bitches for eggs.

I'm going to second whoever mentioned ground turkey earlier. I had to swap to that from beef a few months ago per doctors orders (way less saturated fat) and in dishes where it's basically "ground meat in sauce" I can't even tell the difference. My freezer has 2 pounds ready to cook (maybe for spaghetti sauce or tacos?) and also a ton of ground turkey chill I made two weeks ago to prep for all this. Stuff is great and most people still aren't buying it because it's not beef.

Republican chicanery aside, I also expect insurance companies to fight tooth and nail over making sure victims have to pay something.

368 more new deaths today in Italy. The total death number is close to 2,000 now and around 25,000 confirmed cases.

Worst day for italy so far, hope they can slow it down.
