Did this guy really just say that they learned from the WHO going to China that putting people with the same illness in the same area prevents them from spreading it to others? Did I hear that right? They didn’t already know that??

I think we all need to pump the breaks until we have enough solid data. There's so many factors skewing what data we have that it's all guess work atm. Educated guesses, but guesses nonetheless.
You can find experts with opposing opinions on the current and future state of the pandemic for this very reason.

Employee.
Also, update to the situation
Update. So, this morning, it was the assistant manager that called on behalf of the owner.
Just now, the full manager called and spoke with my mother.
She was laid off indefinitely, my mother asked would she have her job back after this is over, was told no. So said "So I've been terminated?" .. "Yes"
Now, the full manager was stepping down from the position at the end of the month anyway, they are seeing what they can do to place my mother at another salon, in a private capacity.
I understand that it's almost always better to be working than collect unemployment, but if your hours and tips are going to be significantly cut, then you may come out on top by applying for unemployment, as the rate of pay of the unemployment insurance will be based on her previous income when she was working more hours and collecting more tips.
Dude, you really need to get some full time work. I know that right now is the absolute worst time for that advice but
Cmon
Yes she should absolutely file for unemployment immediately. Also she should call up all her regular clients and see if they want to take home appointments or at your apartment or something until she gets a new placement, and if she can work at home or mobile, do that shit all cash and keep collecting unemployment.
The places that might be hiring the most right now are work from home gigs.
Even if they suck, it would be a job.
I know for a fact that Support.com will hire anyone with a decent PC and a microphone and they're always hiring.
I doubt doing anything at our apartment is workable, ESPECIALLY right now.
And housecall is a no-go. Our car quit at the start of 2018, the cost to fix it (steering column issue) was more than we had (or even the value of the car) so we haven't had one since.
She uses the senior dial-a-ride or the bus to get to work, do groceries (we tried delivery, kept fucking up our orders), and handle other stuff.
CDC just announced that it is recommending NO gatherings of 50+ people in the United States for the next 8 weeks
RIP sports
Not trying to pile on, but you need to hear it. Unless you have a medical condition preventing you from working, which you obviously don't, get a full time job. I have more respect for someone who will bag groceries or clean toilets to keep a job than someone that would turn their nose up at it.
Also, you can get a running beater of a car for $500. Hell, go to a car auction and you could get an ok one for that. And you can't tell me there's literally no jobs or you just never get called for interviews. Those are excuses. They haven't called you? CALL THEM. I used to intentionally not call candidates to see who would follow up so I know who really wants a job.

It finally fucking happened. Someone in my building...same floor as me is presumptive positive for COVID-19. Just got a work email from our EVP stating all employees who worked on the 2nd and 3rd floor to work remote till Wednesday when confirmation of his testing comes back.
I just have to echo this.
As someone who has been homeless before for a short time and still found a way to make things work , it's a matter of swallowing pride and literally applying to every job even if you have to take initiative.
My friends in Michigan used to always say they never worried about me finding work because they know I refused to give up. Even when I was literally left with nothing , I walked six miles one day to apply to every gas station and retail store and found work in two days. Stop blaming everyone else and situations before you exhaust EVERY option.
