Me and the wife went to go get new shoes today and went to Runners Circle. The place normally has 2-4 employees there at any given time of day and today it was only 1 guy who looked surprised to see us. He had been instructed by the boss to wipe down everything every 30 minutes and to use disinfectant anywhere a customer touched/sat.

They also had 5 bottles of purrell sitting around lol.

Bay area California is shut down starting at midnight. I'm still having to report since I'll be essential services working for the sheriff's office even though I'm civilian.

Now the real fun part is will the airport shut down to travel ? Will my coworker be able to return from hawaii he just left for yesterday ?

Bay area got a shelter in place order yay. Luckily just 1 county past that... so guess I'm still going to work tomorrow though like half our scheduled stops for tomorrow are in one of those counties. So boss is panicked trying to get ahold of them all saying we wont go. I'm like dude they aren't going to expect us when they themselves can't even go to work lol

Vaccine trials are beginning this week in Seattle. 45 volunteers will be injected with a faux covid.

A group of 45 healthy volunteers will have the jab, at the Kaiser Permanente research facility, in Seattle.

The vaccine cannot cause Covid-19 but contains a harmless genetic code copied from the virus that causes the disease.

And this first human trial, funded by the National Institutes of Health, sidesteps a check that would normally be conducted - making sure the vaccine can trigger an immune response in animals.

But the biotechnology company behind the work, Moderna Therapeutics, says the vaccine has been made using a tried and tested process.

The mRNA-1273 vaccine is not made from the virus that causes Covid-19.

Instead, it includes a short segment of genetic code copied from the virus that scientists have been able to make in a laboratory.

This will hopefully prime the body's own immune system to fight off the real infection.
