How are they winning though?? It seems like I'll get on a team and absolutely roll the opponents, and then the next 9 matches that's what happens to me instead and I can't figure out the difference.

The good news is the matches only last a couple minutes so if I have to run hundreds of them while the event is live it's totally doable.

I'm feeling a lot better about the new PvP after doing a ton of runs yesterday. Meaning I'm feeling good about my own level of skill, fights can still end in 60 seconds if your team is garbage.

I don't understand why there isn't a pre-loaded chat option in CC for "Congratulations, you rushed ahead and got yourself killed when we needed to regroup and fucked the whole match for all of us, you complete retard." Doesn't S-E watch these things?

Dragonsong Ultimate’s “What if?” story is pretty cool. Spoilers for the end of Heavensward.

Phase 1 is the top of the Vault dungeon against Heavensward. Haurchefaunt saves you but dies in the process. Next fight is against Thordan. Defeating him leads to Nidhogg/Estinien fight. Finishing these, the wandering minstrel is like “yep that’s how it happened, but what if you could save your friend?” and he sends you back to the first fight. But now you have LB3 banked and can use it to save Haurchefaunt. This leads to the minstrel going “ah yes, a friend saved, but at what cost?” Without Haurchefaunt’s sacrifice the WoL doesn’t follow Thordan to Azys La immediately and Thordan succeeds in eating the Warring Triad and absorbing all of their power. Estinien tries to stop him but fails, and in his weakened state is possessed by Nidhogg. You now battle against a powered up Thordan who is going around tempering dragons and turning them into his new Heavensward. You defeat Thordan and he begs for his life, but you kill him. You then move on to battle Nidhogg and an enslaved Hraesvalgr, which Nidhogg has enthralled using Allagan technology. You defeat them and Estinien overcomes Nidhogg BUT THIS TIME because the ghosts of Haurchefaunt and Ysayle aren’t there (because they are alive in this timeline) Estinien dies to stop Nidhogg. But then the minstrel is like “oh but WHAT IF” one more time, and you go back to the Thordan fight where he begs for his life. This time you spare him, and Thordan mocks your weakness and flees, but leaves behind his sword Ascalon, which you may recall has one of the Nidhogg eyes embedded in it. You take the sword and have the Nidhogg & Hraesvalgr fight again. This time you use the power of the eye in Ascalon to free Estinien from Nidhogg’s clutches. BUT WAIT ITS NOT OVER. Now Thordan swoops back in and steal Nidhogg’s two eyes and Hraesvalgr’s two eyes and becomes DRAGON KING THORDAN for the final fight. You defeat him eventually, your friends (Haurchefaunt, Ysayle, Estinien) are saved, but with Hraesvalgr and most of the dragons dead, it appears the Dragonsong war is destined to continue. What a mindfuck.

Some liberties are def taken with regards to what happens between Haucherfaunt being surviving and Thordan tempering the dragons. For one, the only reason Thordan was even able to reach Azys Lla was because we fought Bismarck to get the key to enter the area so it ultimately wouldn't matter if we chased after Thordan right away or not because he still would have had to wait for us. Him absorbing the Warring Triad is something that probably didn't happen. He most likely just started tempering dragons right away since he couldn't reach Azys Lla yet. It's all a neat alternate storyline but man, the dragons just continue to get fucked. They def shoulder some of the most tragic events in all of FFXIV.
