Yeah, actually making a little more this year, too.

I changed jobs and should be getting some overtime. Was supposed to work this weekend, but that's probably off because they didn't submit a plan. Got 4-5 more months on this job before moving to another. Hopefully can get some time in. Next job I may be at a higher position so less possibility of overtime, but higher wage.

Don't worry. It all goes into healthcare, childcare, and fixing a house that was is desperate need of work a decade ago. I have enough money in the bank in case of some emergency, but I'm not sitting on stacks.

i think your loyalty to your job slows down your income quite a bit, might be an unwanted opinion of mine for you but the best way to make more money is to get a new job

I'm pretty ruthless about keeping expenses low and just spending on important stuff.

My dad was comically stingy, still is. My brother sent me a photo the other day of my 71 year old dad gassing up my brother's car with a gas can, because he builds up credit card points on a gas card and then uses them all at once to get like $2 off a gallon (max 30 gallons) - he'll fill up both vehicles in one trip and put the extra into gas cans to maximize the discount lol.

Probably harder if he wants to keep living where he does though. But in general I totally agree, job hop as much as possible, nobody cares about loyalty anymore so neither should you.

its definitely true, i am comfortable though and it really doesnt bother me too much, im rich compared to how i grew up and filthy rich compared to how my parents came up. i could be getting payed quite a bit more somewhere else, but i like this company and they have treated me pretty good overall. was wfh before that became the norm, so kind of lost a perk in that regard.

i consider myself to be doing pretty well and i don't think theres a vast difference in happiness going from 50k -> 100k/yearly salary
