5 hours in, FF7R is a legit-assed game. Gameplay ain't the strongest but it's sure as hell better than FF15.

As someone that's not fond of 7 and this is the proof I need to completely avoid 15.

I love the 4 main chars in 15 because the bromance they have is legit. Problem is I could care less for the world which is a shame because, outside of the cities, the world is honestly beautiful. Also never felt like I ever got closer to understanding it's battle system. Was like, I'm just gonna hit shit until I die or one of my teammates die and repeat. Spells are strong as hell but to me was needlessly convoluted to use.

I feel like everyone is being overly cautious cause they dont want to be "that guy" gushing like a fanboy over his final fantasy weabo remake, but legit this game is well designed. I'm having a blast and I'm trying to be as cautiously optimistic about it, and I keep trying to temper my excitement cause I keep forgetting this game ends at the end of midgar, but good lord was this a labor of love and it shows. Idk how long its gonna take to remake this, I'm assuming at least 4 games of equal scope cause holy cow I wasnt expecting them to offer the range I'm seeing here. Nothing incredible, just so much detail and character building. Really enjoying the hell out of this game and I cant wait to do it on PC again next year with even more graphical prowess.

Lots of exposition and character growth. Most of it has been pretty great too. Combat is also hella fun, music is the best rearrangement of a FF ost they've done yet. Kinda lame to say it's the best ff to date, especially when its not the entire plot, but it's certainly the best playing ff to date.
