CDC says wear them because they were ordered to say just that, not because it came from sound data.
A travel ban does nothing because tourists tend to be the ones bringing it home, not immigrants. A lockdown is different from a travel ban numbnuts.

Unfortunately the CDC is putting forward a mandate handed down to them. If you're going to use masks, at the very least, learn how to clean or dispose of them properly, which doesn't seem to be data offered at the start.
I seem to recall the CDC ALSO saying masks weren't needed.
ok bro stay not wearing one because vox said so
He's just mad he lives in a country that's funding WHO and their Chinese overlords
only wear masks if you have a disease that shows no symptoms for 2 weeks or a healthcare worker, the masks know the difference!
youd be mad too if your house was a mess because covid killed your maid, on top of having to spend time with his family, cut him some slack
Yeah day, I'm literally shaking with anger rn.
I'm still confused over the push-back to wear masks in public. Is there some kind of detriment to wearing them? Is it because we should save them for healthcare workers?
They wanted healthcare workers to get the N95 masks yes, but they could have just said that shit instead of telling us they "do nothing" to help the general public, when clearly they "do something" or the healthcare workers wouldn't have them. Now you got people like Demo telling us that only people with the virus should wear them and that is retarded, no one knows if they have it right away. Are they telling only people with corona to stay home? Thought we were trying to flatten the curve.
Another positive of the masks is they help remind you how much you are touching your face.
Its one of those social annoyances. Most masks do nothing to stop the virus, but it has ancillary benefits like helping people remember not to touch their face, some people CAN get the right mask to protect themselves, etc.
With reusable masks a thing, this is something that doesn't really hurt, might have a small to medium effect of the numbers, and really there's no reason not to ask that people cover up with masks. Not to mention it helps stem the spread of mist from your mouth or nose when you sneeze, so it also helps a little with the common cold and the flu.

Save them for healthcare workers. If you think you need a mask in public you can use a cloth covering of some kind. My wife's aunt is sewing them herself and then making a pocket so you can put a "filter material" inside the mask. They're suggesting the blue mechanic's paper towels because they're good for oils and things of that nature so they're theoretically good for particulates.
Also, if you have any R95 masks (not N95) it's similarly good for oils and particulates. I havea few of them left over from doing work on the house if I ever need a mask.
