I started going to the nicer store as my main go to during this. I have most things listed according to where they are int he store, but I still haven't located some of these items. For example, I have no idea where they keep their salad dressing and their vinegars aren't with the oils like they are in most stores I shop in. It takes me about an hour from walking in to checking out to get 2-3 weeks worth of food.

Takes my wife an hour and change to get two days worth of food.

Since I need to do the groceries and I don't drive/have a car, I'm using one of those granny carts. Between stacking items in a specific order (heavy at the bottom, etc.), the grocery store making aisles one way causing loopbacks, and having to substitute/adapt to anything out of stock, it's nearly doubled the time I'm in store.

It'd be even worse if I didn't go first thing in the morning, after the senior hour, when there'd be even more people in the store.


edit: we tried delivered groceries when we first lost the car, there is ALWAYS a missing item or "wtf r u doin" substitution, and it's always a key thing you need for dinner, not like a snack or something.

I was listening to a podcast and they were doing the grocery delivery thing. They said the person substituted onions for pitatoes and cilantro for lettuce or something.

instacart is not like that, you can pick substitute items for somethings and the shopper will text you if an item isnt there and they see a decent substitution, if you miss that txt they just dont get it. the service is actually really nice so far i just feel extra privileged and shitty having someone buy my groceries right now

my fiance ordered chicken thru instacart, they scanned the chicken but we ended up with a 3lb bag of frozen blueberries. needless to say, we had many blueberry themed deserts for a week and it was marvelous
